Barca admit "Griezmann still has a transfer market"

When Barca president Laporta reacted to the conversation between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, Barca admitted that "Griezmann has a transfer market".

The Barca president is aware of the "interest" in the World Cup-winning striker, with la Liga giants looking to raise money through a sale

Barca president Laporta admitted there is "a market" for Anthony Griezmann this summer, the World Cup-winning striker with atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

The talented France international's contract at Camp Nou runs until 2024, meaning Barca have no pressure to sell, but the La Liga giants need to raise money through the sale in order to register new players and hammer out new terms with Messi.

With that in mind, Laporta conceded that a deal could be reached to take Griezmann away from Catalonia, and if a deal is reached, swap offers will be considered.

What did President Barca say?

Laporta told reporters at the official unveiling ceremony of summer signing Memphis Depay: "Griezmann is a Barca player, his contract with the club until 2024, unless the situation changes, we are counting on him."

"There are some changes in the market and we can't deny that there are people who are interested in him. That's a sign of his quality.

"It's a special market and you have to use your imagination and maybe think about swaps, but we take Griezmann very seriously. The club has invested a lot of money in him and we are happy with him.

"It's not easy for a club to offer a contract for a player of his level. But the transfer window has only just begun, and Griezmann has a transfer market.

"If things start to progress, we will accept all the offers because we are at a delicate moment financially and we have to balance the accounts and abide by the league's financial fairness rules."

Where will Griezmann play in 2021-22?

Rumors of returning to Atletico two years after moving to Barcelona continue.

Transfer rumours are widespread, with Saul Negus and João Felix seen as potential options for Spanish champions Barca, who could swap a familiar face.

However, England have long been interested in the 30-year-old, and City have also recently reached out to the player, with Guardiola looking for another striker in the transfer market after seeing Aguero join Barcelona as a free agent.

United have also seen rumours of interest in another goalscorer, who has also followed Griezmann in the past.

Another potential landing could be Paris Saint-Germain, with Ligue 1 heavyweights seeking to update their rankings as questions about Mbappe's future at the Parc des Princes are asked.
