Due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was scheduled to be held last year, has been postponed to October 31 to November 12 this year, when about 20,000 to 30,000 people will attend. President Joe Biden will attend, and Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have announced that they will not attend the conference.
According to Reuters, national security adviser Sullivan said on the 28th that Biden is expected to meet with several world leaders, including the presidents of France and Turkey, during the G20 leaders' summit and COP26 in Rome.
Mr. Sullivan said Biden would discuss a range of issues, including Iran, supply bottlenecks and fighting a future pandemic.

Bloomberg reported that Biden had hoped to be "warmly welcomed" at COP26 because of his pledge to make climate action a cornerstone of his administration. However, Biden's climate commitments have been frustrated domestically, with a key Democrat saying there was "no time to hammer anything out" before Biden set out for Europe. Public opinion generally believes that Biden's european trip faces a huge challenge to re-establishing the credibility of the United States.
White House spokesman Psaki downplayed the expectation that the Democratic Party can reach an agreement at a press conference on the 27th. Biden certainly wants to go with the deal, she said, but leaders "will look at the president's commitments on infrastructure and climate, not what Congress is passing."
The leaders of China and Russia will not attend the conference. China's Foreign Ministry announced that Xi Jinping will attend and speak at the G20 summit in Beijing by video, with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attending.
According to the Russian News Agency, the Russian president's press secretary Peskov said on the 27th that Putin will not go to Glasgow to participate in the United Nations climate conference, but the Russian side will send representatives to attend.
In addition, the British Royal Family recently announced that the Queen of the United Kingdom, on the advice of doctors, "regrettably decided" not to participate in COP26. The Queen, who was supposed to host the summit reception, has now addressed the guests by video. (End)
