A weekend family visit is a pleasure. But on Saturday, a scene at the Beijing Zoo was gruesome: outside the Wolf Pavilion exhibition area, many parents took their children to feed across the railing. Some feed weeds, some feed twigs, noodles, and even ice cream sticks after eating.

Feeding animals indiscriminately is a common uncivilized behavior when visiting the park. Not long ago, at the Beijing Zoo, a woman with a child clashed with other tourists over this, breaking out the shocking words "Am I feeding sulfuric acid or pills?" There are indeed some people, whether they are herbivores or carnivores, docile or aggressive, and they can tease whenever they want; whether they are vegetables, grass roots, or leaves, they can throw whatever they have on hand. According to reports, in the first half of 2020, the Beijing Zoo alone found and discouraged more than 1,100 cases of uncivilized behavior, and issued 23 records.
Like humans, animal diets have their own habits, which require scientific proportions and strict control. It is not known whether the food brought by tourists is hygienic and safe, and whether it is in line with the spleen and stomach of the animals. In fact, there are many tragedies caused by indiscriminate feeding. A few years ago, a precious golden snub-nosed monkey "Quanquan" in Beijing Zoo died of heart failure, precisely because of "gas accumulation in the stomach, increased abdominal pressure and compression of the heart and lungs, resulting in breathing difficulties", its stomach is full of bread, carrots and other food fed by tourists, and has caused lesions. In Shantou Zhongshan Park, an ostrich was choked to death by feeding packaged bread stuck in its throat, and a sika deer in a zoo in Zhenjiang died of plastic products...
In recent years, the call for rectification of indiscriminate feeding has continued, and the relevant management units have been working hard. Set up isolation belts, increase glass fences, increase warning signs, and persuade all park employees on holidays... All aspects of software and hardware are being adjusted and improved. The "Beijing Municipal Park Regulations" also stipulate that those who intimidate, beat or injure animals or feed animals in non-feeding areas shall be ordered to make corrections and may be fined accordingly; Since 2018, the Beijing Zoo Management Team has also carried out joint inspection and law enforcement with the Chengguan Law Enforcement Team, and imposed administrative penalties on serious violations such as repeated persuasion and harm to animals.
Judging from the actual situation, the effect of these measures is some, and the awareness of civilized garden visits is gradually penetrating the hearts of the people. However, there are still many people who do their own thing, and it is not uncommon to turn a blind eye to warning signs, stuff food through mesh, and turn around verbally to steal feeding. The reason is that some people are full of indifference, "how much can a leaf be", making a fuss; some people are consciously "buying tickets to come in, you have to have fun". Although the mentality is different, in the final analysis, it is the lack of minimum empathy for animals and the lack of basic reverence for rules. For these people, how many verbal reminders may not help, the most important thing is to manage and punish in place. For example, administrative penalties, fines of "50 yuan" hip-hop, 100 yuan? For example, the "blacklist" system, a month of prohibition into the park "does not matter", then half a year and a year?
The National Day holiday is coming, and the peak of travel is coming. Relevant managers may wish to take this opportunity to "zero tolerance" for uncivilized behaviors such as indiscriminate feeding, and give lessons to those who have not changed their teachings. Each tourist also controls his own hand, persuades others to hold on, and jointly cultivates good habits of civilization.
