Wenchuan snapper is the most common and inexpensive ornamental fish of the flute snapper in China, because there are farms for this fish in Taiwan, Hainan and Guangxi. This fish has three longitudinal black stripes, which become brownish red when adults are arranged much like the Chinese character "Chuan", hence the name. Due to the large proportion of its head, the juvenile flute snapper always nods forward when swimming, and the front looks like it is constantly performing a salute, so it is also called "kowtow swallow".

The juveniles in the market are all fry bred by themselves in the southern farms of China, generally individuals at 3--5 cm, they are simply too good to raise, I have never heard of the record of raising them to death. Unless they are kept in fresh water all the time, almost nothing will kill them. Another advantage of artificial individuals is their strong resistance to disease, except for non-severe outbreaks of bacterial diseases in aquariums, and conventional diseases they can resist the past on their own. They receive any feed and grow very fast, 5 cm larvae only need 6 months to grow to 15 cm, 2 years to reach 30 cm adult size. They like to prey on small fish, even the doctor's fish used to treat diseases, and they must not be kept with fish smaller than 10 cm in size. If you are willing to feed, this fish can hold its belly very large every day, and then find a quiet place to sleep.
