Fine-scaled catfish were first found in the Tianchi Bogda Peak Nature Reserve in Xinjiang

Recently, the fourth comprehensive scientific expedition carried out by Xinjiang Tianchi Bogdafeng Nature Reserve since its establishment in 1980 was fully completed, and it was determined by Nanjing Puhou Ecological Technology Co., Ltd. and Nanjing University and other teams to find fine scales in Xinjiang Tianchi Bogdafeng Nature Reserve (West Xiaotianchi). This species is the first discovery in the Bogda Peak Nature Reserve in Tianchi, Xinjiang.

It is a typical land-sealed cold-water fish, a national second-level key protected wild animal, which is mainly distributed in some rivers of the Irtysh River Basin in Xinjiang. The team of experts speculates that the fine scales caught in this scientific expedition are individuals who were unintentionally brought into the nature reserve when other fish species were released into the nature reserve or who were once stocked in the reserve.

The results of this scientific investigation determined that there are 8 species of fish distributed in the water body of Tianchi in the nature reserve, namely green carp, Xinjiang naked heavy lip fish, Xinjiang Yaluo fish, Si's plateau loach, Xinjiang plateau loach, fine scaled catfish, rainbow trout, and pond swamp male fish. Compared with the 2009 scientific expedition, this new record is 3 species of fish. There are 3 species of indigenous fish in the nature reserve, the others are historical breeding and stocking fish.

Xinjiang Tianchi Bogda Peak Nature Reserve takes the forest ecosystem, typical complete vegetation vertical distribution belt, rare and endangered wild animal and plant habitat, glaciers, rivers, lakes, etc. as the main protection objects, typical geographical location and climate type, which has bred rich wild animal and plant resources, and the discovery of new fish species has laid a foundation for biodiversity monitoring and research in the reserve.
