Rainforest Science Diary of the Hainan New Woolly Hedgehog

Hainan new woolly hedgehog: is a hedgehog without thorns on its body, the size of a general vole, but the mouth is pointed and long, like a shrew. It is slightly larger than the woolly hedgehog living in Yunnan, with a body length of 132-147 mm

With a tail that grows larger than the hind feet and is 36–43 mm long, the Hainan new hairy hedgehog is a more primitive of the insectivorous species. Its coat is rat-gray in color with a slight brownish-yellow color. It has a faintly visible black longitudinal stripe in the center of its back. The Hainan new woolly hedgehog is an endemic species in China and is only distributed on Hainan Island.
