Zhanjiang Mangrove Forest National Nature Reserve
Zhanjiang Mangrove Forest National Nature Reserve is located at the southernmost tip of the Chinese mainland, spanning the four counties (cities) of Xuwen, Leizhou, Suixi and Lianjiang in Zhanjiang City and the four districts of Mazhang, Potou, Donghai and Xiashan, and distributed intermittently along the 1500 km coastline of Leizhou Peninsula.
The reserve is rich in natural resources and Chinese mainland the most diverse areas of mangroves on the coast. Contains 22 species of 15 families and more than 7000 hectares of true mangrove and semi-mangrove plants; the main associated plants are 14 families and 21 species; birds are 194 species; there are 3 orders, 41 families, 76 genera, 130 species of shellfish, 15 orders, 60 families, 100 genera and 139 species.

Zhanjiang Mangrove Forest National Nature Reserve, as the largest existing mangrove area in China, has a forest stand closure of more than 0.8, which plays an extremely important ecological role in controlling coastal erosion, maintaining water and soil and protecting biodiversity, resisting typhoons, slowing down the flow rate of tides, promoting dredging of land, protecting embankments, absorbing and converting pollutants, and purifying seawater.
Mangroves are widely distributed in Zhanjiang, from the Leizhou Peninsula, Donghai Island, Nansan Island, Techeng Island, and Lianjiang River. All year round, there are many birds breeding in it, the mangrove forest is the most beautiful at low tide, at this time the roots of the mangrove forest will make a "popping" sound when they hear the sound, and stranded fish, shrimp and crabs can also be caught on the beach.

Xuwen Coral Reef Nature Reserve
Xuwen Coral Reef Nature Reserve, located in the coastal area of Jiaowei Township and Xilian Town in the west of Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, covers an area of about 109 square kilometers, and is currently the largest contiguous coral reef natural resource in China, with the largest concentration of species and the best preservation.
In 1999, the People's Government of Xuwen County established a nature reserve to strengthen the protection of natural resources of coral reefs in the area, and in 2002, it was approved by the Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government to be upgraded to a municipal nature reserve.
After scientific research and investigation, the coral species of Xuwen Coral Reef Nature Reserve have been identified and identified in 49 species of 2 orders, 17 families, and 2 species have yet to be identified, including many rare species, and some varieties have even been discovered for the first time in China.

In addition to the extensive development of coral reefs in China's Xisha, Zhongsha, Dongsha and Nansha Islands, it is rare to find such a large area of coral reefs in Xuwen.
A long trestle bridge on the beach inside the Coral Reserve plunges deep into the sea, and you can watch the clusters of coral reefs under the water. There are also two coral exhibition halls next to the beach, so you can walk around and increase your knowledge. The commercial atmosphere here is not strong, and the natural scenery makes people feel very comfortable! It was nice to bring the family here for a holiday by car.

Leizhou Rare Marine Life National Nature Reserve
Leizhou Rare Marine Life National Nature Reserve is located on the west side of Leizhou Peninsula, with an area of 46,864.67 hectares, of which the core area is 18,527 hectares, the buffer zone is 13,664 hectares, and the experimental area is 14,673.67 hectares.
In January 2008, it was upgraded to a national protected area with the approval of the State Council, and the ecosystem mainly includes coral reef ecosystem, seaweed field ecosystem and intertidal ecosystem, and the objects of protection are rare marine organisms and their habitats. Surrounded by fishing villages and clear seas, it is a "paradise" for rare animals in the western Regions of Guangdong.

Leizhou Rare Aquatic Animal Nature Reserve is one of the most well-protected and ecologically rich tropical typical ecosystems in the coastal areas of Chinese mainland. It is a typical nearshore model in China that is less affected by human activities, and its core area is basically in a primitive state. A total of 30 species of aquatic animals are protected by national laws or international conventions, and 40 species are listed in the Red Book of Endangered Species of China and the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, which are listed as critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable species, making it a refuge for the most important rare aquatic animals in tropical coastal waters in China.
The reserve cooperates with Guangdong Ocean University, CUHK, Huashi, Nanhai Research Institute and other institutions to conduct scientific research on a variety of rare animals such as seedling breeding and stocking of white butterfly shellfish in the reserve, seedlings of long bamboo clams, and implement the resource survey project of the reserve. South China Normal University, Guangdong Ocean University and other scientific research institutes are preparing to set up scientific research and science education practice bases in the reserve.
