Defected to Sun Yat-sen
Gu Zhenglun is a native of Shun'an, Guizhou, and his family is very well-off, because his father is a large landlord, and he does not have to worry about education at all. In 1906, Gu Zhenglun graduated from the local army elementary school, successfully entered the army middle school to continue his studies, and after graduation, he was sent to Japan to study. It was during his studies at the Zhenwu School that Gu Zhenglun joined the League at that time and became a member of Sun Yat-sen's early revolutionary team.
In 1911, he joined the Wuchang Uprising with Huang Xing, and later participated in the Xinhai Revolution, in which he fought bravely and made many achievements, and Sun Yat-sen transferred him to Guizhou. However, it is always a new official, the twists and turns in the political circles have always been like that, the original place is Guizhou's power struggle is particularly much, Gu Zhenglun did not properly handle it, resulting in the final exclusion of local officials, and finally ended up being driven out of Guizhou.

Gu Zhenglun took part in the Northern Expedition with his own contingent of several hundred men, and in the battle of Nanjing, he personally went into battle to fire artillery (from the artillery department), which attracted chiang kai-shek's attention because of his excellent performance.
