About 10,000 kinds of mainland books have entered the Taiwan campus to work together for the development of Chinese culture

Beijing, 20 Sep (China News Service) -- The 18th Mainland Book Fair and Book Design Exhibition with the theme of "Beautiful Books and Reading" opened on the campus of Taiwan's Chinese Culture University on 20 September.

About 10,000 kinds of excellent books reflecting the current economic and social development of the mainland, especially the more than 100 most beautiful books selected in the past three years, representing the current high level of mainland book binding design.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Mainland China Publishers Association and the Taiwan Book Publishing Association. Shen Jianlin, deputy secretary general of the Publishers Association of China, said in his opening speech that publishing is an important way for cross-strait cultural exchanges and is also an important carrier for compatriots on both sides of the strait to intersect with each other, respect differences, enhance understanding, and continuously enhance national and cultural identity. In the nearly 30 years since cross-strait opening up and exchanges, publishing exchanges have always been based on jointly carrying forward the excellent traditions of Chinese culture, expounding the connotation of the times of Chinese culture, and playing an important role in deepening the spiritual ties of compatriots on both sides of the strait and promoting the unity of hearts and minds.

"The Mainland Book Fair is an important platform for the publishing industry on both sides of the strait to promote exchanges and enhance mutual trust." He expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of the publishing industry on both sides of the strait and the participation and support of friends from all walks of life, the mainland book fair will certainly make new contributions to close cultural exchanges and promote the common development of the two sides of the strait.

Lin Yangci, chairman of the Taiwan Book Publishing Association, introduced that in 2015, the 16th Mainland Book Fair went out of Taipei City for the first time and exhibited at Taichung Fengjia University. In 2016, he transferred to Fu Jen University in New Taipei City and returned to Taipei again this year. This book fair inherits the previous two sessions and walks into the university campus to display mainland books in front of xinxin students, hoping to let Taiwan college students read mainland books and enhance their understanding.

Li Tianren, president of The University of Culture, talked about the original intention of the University of Culture and Culture, which has been determined to inherit and promote Chinese culture since its inception, and still contains many Chinese cultural characteristics and absorbs the essence of Chinese and Western cultures. Taiwan's first printing department was established at the school, he said, Meishu beautify our hearts, hope that everyone will work together for the development of Chinese culture.

As soon as the book fair opened, Zhao Jianmin, dean of the School of Social Sciences of the Cultural University, purchased more than ten books. He said that the book fair is displayed on campus, so that teachers and students are particularly close to books, and such activities should be more organized.

It is reported that the exhibition will end on September 22. During the period, the "Fourth Cross-Strait Reading Forum for all" and the "Cross-Strait Book Design Professional Forum" will also be held. On the 24th, the Mainland Book Design Exhibition will be transferred to Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung.

At the opening ceremony of the same day, the Mainland Books Import and Export (Group) Corporation donated 1,600 books to Cultural University, Fu Jen University and Fengjia University. (End)
