The red-faced embroidered eyebird (scientific name: Zosterops erythropleurus) is medium in size and belongs to the genus Hydrangeae in the family Finches, with a body length of 12 cm. In 2021, it will be listed in the national list of animals under secondary key protection. It is distinguished from the dark green embroidered bird and the gray-bellied embroidered bird in that the upper body is more gray, the two sides are chestnut (sometimes not revealed), the jaw color is lighter, the yellow throat spots are smaller, and the top of the head is not yellow. The iris is reddish brown; the mouth is olive; the feet are gray. There are distinct white circles around the eyes; both body size and upper body plumage are similar to those of dark green embroidered birds, but the two sides are distinctly chestnut red, which is easily distinguished from other embroidered birds.

It is common in primary forests and secondary forests above 1000 meters above sea level. Sometimes mixed with dark green embroidered bird, it likes to eat small insects and sweets in the wild. The call is a chirping call dze-dze that is characteristic of the genus.

The red-faced embroidered bird is mainly distributed in East Asia, East China, South China and Indochina. It breeds in northeast China and winters south to central, southern and eastern China.
