One of the best places in China for adventure travel

"The world's first grand canyon" Brahmaputra Grand Canyon is the world's highest canyon, but also the world's deepest and longest canyon, known as the last secret of mankind, has been loved by the majority of adventure enthusiasts for many years.

Originating from the Jamayas Dzong Glacier on the northern slope of the Himalayas, the Brahmaputra River passes through four prefectures and cities in Tibet, including Shigatse, Lhasa, and Nyingchi, it leaves Metuo County and finally flows into the Indian Ocean through India and Bangladesh.

It splits the mountain barrier between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Water Vapor Of the Indian Ocean, and continuously transports water vapor to the interior of the Plateau, making the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau a green world. The average depth of the canyon reaches 5,000 meters, and the narrowest point is only 35 meters, and the sharp altitude difference and vertical climate distribution have made the Grand Canyon breed almost all types of biomes from cold, temperate, subtropical to tropical.

For the first time, Chinese a full hike

As early as the Neolithic period, there were early Lhoba ancestors on both sides of the Brahmaputra River, and there were excavations such as stone axes, stone hammers, and sand pottery pieces. Around the 8th century AD, the famous religious figure Lotus Sheng first used Baima Gang as a secret place of practice, which is recorded in the remnants of the Yanluo Palace ruins in The village of Gara in Pai Town, Milin County.

Later, after a period of change, Chinese scientists entered the Grand Canyon for the first time in 1973 and carried out arduous exploration. In the 1980s, more than 100 experts entered the Grand Canyon from different directions to conduct a comprehensive multidisciplinary investigation and summarized a number of monographs. In the early 1990s, a number of Chinese and foreign scientists successively entered the Grand Canyon for exploration and investigation, but due to the natural environment and their own capabilities, there are still some areas that cannot achieve scientific investigation along the river.

One of China's most explorable secrets, the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon, has become a 5A scenic spot

On April 17, 1998, Chinese scientists confirmed for the first time that the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon, with a total length of 496 kilometers and a maximum depth of 5382 meters, is the deepest canyon on earth, which has become one of the largest geographical discoveries of mankind in this century. Since then, the Grand Canyon of Corca in Peru, which was once known as the world's first Grand Canyon, is 3200 meters deep.

On October 19, 1998, the State Council approved the naming of the Brahmaputra River Grand Canyon, or grand canyon for short.

From October to December 1998, Chinese realized the whole trekking of the world's largest canyon for the first time, and achieved a number of important scientific investigation results. It not only unveiled the mystery of the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon waterfall that Chinese and foreign scientists have been paying attention to, but also found a large area of yew forest for the first time in no man's land, and the wingless insects known as "living fossils".

During the expedition, the Chinese expedition team experienced an extremely arduous process. They divided their troops into several routes, one detachment crossed the most prominent core area of the Grand Canyon, through more than 20 kilometers of uninhabited areas with high mountains and deep valleys and hanging rock cliffs; the second detachment went south from Paixiang to the south over the Duoxiongla Snow Mountain at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, entered the territory of Metuo, and went up the river to Zhaqu Village, hiking more than 450 kilometers.

The base camp detachment is responsible for inspecting the relevant environment in the outer area of the Grand Canyon, and establishes the base camp of the expedition team in Zaqu to welcome the two detachments to meet here. The waterfall detachment selected from the base camp detachment, starting from Zaqu through the core no-man's land, experienced a 5-day difficult march, and finally saw rongzha waterfall, Qiugudulong waterfall and Zangbu Badong No. 2 waterfall.

The achievements of the Chinese expedition have attracted the attention of all walks of life at home and abroad, and the exploration and tourism of the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon have entered a new stage.
