Maurice Mo resigned as Captain of the French Cup and coached Murray for two years

Beijing News (reporter Sun Haiguang) WTA former world number one Maurismo announced yesterday that he will no longer serve as the captain of the Davis Cup in France. In the new season, Maurice Mo will be the coach of France's men's Pouilly.

In June, the French Tennis Association announced that the 38-year-old Maurice Mo would succeed Janik Noah as the first female captain of the Davis Cup team in France. Mauricemo also became the sixth woman in history to coach the Davis Cup team, after captaining the Confederations Cup from 2013 to 2016, leading France to a six-win, three-loss record and reaching the final in 2016.

This season, Mauricemo led France to the Davis Cup final, but lost at home to Croatia. Later, Mauricemo offered her resignation to the French Tennis Association, and she thanked the French Tennis Association for her trust. After stepping down as captain, Maurice Mo's new identity is that of the coach of the current world number 32 French player Puuille. Pouilly, 24, was at one point in the top 10 of the world this season and is a rising star on the French men's tennis.

Mauricemo won the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2006 and retired in 2009 as a coach. Mauricemo coached ATP World No. 1 Murray for two years, becoming the first female coach to coach a top men's player.

For Maurice Mo's decision, the French Tennis Association also expressed support and encouragement, saying that this decision is also for the french tennis service. The French Tennis Association is currently looking for a new captain who will lead the team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in addition to leading the team to prepare for the Davis Cup.
