Recently, the COP15 "World Paradise • Yunnan Biodiversity All-Media Theme Interview Tour" jointly organized by the Propaganda Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the Press and Propaganda Department of the COP15 Yunnan Provincial Preparatory Office entered Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The second stop is the Gulinzhen Provincial Nature Reserve in Maguan County, Wenshan Prefecture.
The main area of Gulinzhen Provincial Nature Reserve is located in the southwest of Maguan County, gulinzhen township and zhenchang township, adjacent to Hekou County of Honghe Prefecture, and connected to Daweishan National Nature Reserve in the south, with an existing management area of 7107 hectares. The minimum altitude of the reserve is 160 meters, the highest altitude is 2028.4 meters, and the altitude rises from more than 100 meters to more than 1000 meters in the range of 1 to 5 kilometers in a straight line, and reaches 2000 meters in the range of 10 kilometers, forming a special environment across tropical and subtropical climate zones. Professor Yang Yuming of Southwest Forestry University introduced that it has not been directly invaded by the Quaternary continental glaciers, and has been in a relatively stable warm and humid climate condition to nurture and develop, so it has been able to preserve the vegetation types and a large number of ancient species that were basically formed in the Tertiary Period, and has become a natural "refuge" for ancient plants.
The main protection objects of the reserve are the northern tropical mountain forest vegetation and rich animal and plant resources, there are 2256 species of vascular plants, of which 10 species of wild plants under national level I key protection are expected to be tianshu and north Vietnamese dipterocarp, 30 species of wild plants such as clams and alders are protected by level II, 326 species of vertebrates, including 7 species of national level I key protected wild animals such as round-nosed monitor lizards and bee monkeys, and 28 species of national level II key protected wild animals such as short-tailed monkeys and native chickens; there are 393 species of insects. Due to its special geographical location, new species have been discovered in recent years.
It preserves the largest and most intact clam forest ecosystem in the country. Clam wood is a wild plant of the seed plant Linden family, which is listed as a national second-level key protected wild plant, and the local people in Maguan County are commonly known as "fire wood trees". The Ancient Forest Basket Reserve is distributed with clams as the main forest community, which is the most representative and characteristic vegetation type of the Ancient Forest Basket Reserve, with a distribution range of about 13,000 mu, and it is also a widely distributed, largest and most completely preserved clam forest in the country.
Clams grow in the peak cluster stone area, no stone and no long wood is the unique habitat requirements of this tree species, mainly distributed in lao fanzhai below 1000 meters above sea level to the east slope of the Nanxi River in 429. Clams are tall, is the upper layer of the rainforest to constitute the dominant tree species, dense growth, community appearance of thick green, chest diameter of more than 1 meter is a thousand-year-old tree, the largest plant monitoring recorded in the reserve chest diameter of 3.5 meters, tree age of more than 2,000 years.
At present, only a few clams remain in northern Vietnam and Nonggang, Guangxi, and this species can be widely protected in the Gulin Reserve, which is very valuable.
