BEIJING (October 12, 2015) – UBS is proud to be the Sponsoring Partner of the Beijing International Music Festival for its 12th year and has announced that it will co-host the "Bach Way: Zhu Xiaomei Piano Solo Concert" with the Beijing International Music Festival on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. The concert will be held at Wangfujing Church in Beijing.

The Wangfujing Church Concert has been the focus of the Beijing International Music Festival since 2006, and Zhu Xiaomei's performance will continue this long-standing tradition.

Even if her career started late, Zhu Xiaomei still won international recognition. Her interpretation of Bach's extremely difficult Gothenburg variation has been praised by international masters such as Gerlen Gould, who have played the piece.

Zhu Xiaomei is known for performing selected repertoire by famous artists, such as composers she considers to be musical geniuses (such as Bach). Zhu Xiaomei is a devout believer in the Gothenburg Variations, and it is said that she plays this piece almost every day.

The Gothenburg Variations were evaluated after their first performance in 1741 as "a repertoire carefully composed to awaken the soul." Nearly 275 years later, Ms. Zhu will prove this again, because she regards it as an important piece of music in her life.

Commenting on Zhu Xiaomei's performance, He Di, Chairman of UBS Securities, said: "We have sponsored the Beijing International Music Festival for 12 years and are proud to contribute to the promotion of this event as an international cultural event. Zhu Xiaomei's performance this year will further expand the international popularity of the festival, and UBS is willing to once again present the wonderful performances of outstanding Chinese musicians. ”

The UBS Group has a long history of developing cultural undertakings around the world, whether it is a global partner of Art Basel or its support for classical music festivals held around the world, which is the best example of UBS's support for global cultural activities; The sponsorship cooperation with the Beijing International Music Festival in the past 12 years is also an important part of this.

At the same time, the sponsorship of the Beijing International Music Festival reflects UBS's support for the Chinese market and its talents. Through the Beijing International Music Festival, UBS not only helps promote Outstanding Chinese Musicians, but also aims to discover and nurture the younger generation.

At the press conference, UBS specially invited Zhao Chuhan, a student from Shunyi Dongfeng Primary School who had participated in its China community cooperation project, to perform live for Zhu Xiaomei. After listening to the performance of this young guest, Zhu Xiaomei gave guidance and suggestions and encouraged her to continue to love and learn music.

At last year's Beijing International Music Festival, Zhao Chuhan watched the rehearsal of the Wangfujing Church concert with other students under the organization of the school, and had the opportunity to play in front of the artist's stage, thus becoming acquainted with UBS. With a mission to inspire and nurture domestic musical talent, UBS is pleased to continue to provide opportunities, help and witness the growth of Chuhan Zhao and young music lovers like her on the road to music.

In the coming days, UBS will hold a series of community activities with Zhu Xiaomei to introduce classical music to Beijing teenagers. Among them, 30 students from the primary school of Shunyi Niulanshan No. 1 Experimental School were invited to participate in Zhu Xiaomei's solo rehearsal on the day of the concert at the Wangfujing Catholic Church. After that, UBS will also arrange for Zhu Xiaomei to visit the Xuanwu Peizhi School in Beijing donated by the China Friendship and Peace Development Foundation, enjoy the students' music performances on the spot, and interact with the children face-to-face.

During a brief visit on Wednesday (October 14, 2015), Ms. Zhu will also participate in the UBS Employee Sharing Event, and UBS employees will also have the opportunity to interact with successful people like Zhu Xiaomei and discuss how to pursue personal interests and career development on a career path.
