Former NBA player Jose Calderon was recently interviewed by NBA reporter Howard Beck to review his experience with Lakers forward LeBron James in the 2017-18 cavaliers.
Asked if he felt james might move to the Lakers as a free agent after the season, Calderon said: "I have the opportunity to spend time with him on a regular basis, we have a group of guys who get along well, another of whom is Jeff Green, and we go out for dinner on almost every road trip. Jeff and I would sometimes ask him and chat jokingly with him, but we had no clue at all, and it was impossible to get a premonition of what was going to happen from him. But we always laugh at him, 'Okay, what are you going to do?' But nothing was gained, I had no hunch. That season was amazing in every sense of the word, we went through so much that we ended up in the finals. It was a great, great year. ”
Asked how James is unique compared to other Hall of Fame-level teammates he's experienced, Calderon said: "I've been lucky enough to have a great relationship with him and the opportunity to get to know him as a person. I think what sets him apart is the way he prepares for the game. In my opinion, he's winning, he's showing professionalism, even if he's the best one, he's always the first to train, he's training harder than anybody else. He takes care of his body, he thinks about basketball 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, he's watching games, doing this and doing that. So he was prepared for battle. I think there are people who get to that level and they don't really know how to stay motivated every day, to be perfect, to win, and to try to help every teammate and coach what they should do anyway. He's a great leader who not only trains hard himself, but also wants you to perform 100% of the time because you know he's going to give 100% of your performance. So, that's great, that's what sets him apart from some other people. ”
