On October 27, local time, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying that two Russian Tu-160 strategic bombers flew over the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea and successfully completed flight training missions. The flight lasted about 8 hours, and the Naval Aviation of russia's Northern Fleet dispatched MiG-31 fighters to accompany the flight.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Tu-160 was also accompanied by surveillance by Norwegian Air Force F-16 fighters during the flight. The Russian Ministry of Defense stressed that Russian military aircraft regularly fly over neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific, Black Sea and Baltic Sea, and the relevant flights strictly comply with the rules for the use of international airspace.
