Disney's first step in integrating the Alien universe, Alien: Aftermath Story Synopsis Alien: Aftermath

After Disney acquires Twentieth Century Fox, it will inevitably integrate a bunch of classic IP under the latter's umbrella, in addition to the "X-Men" has confirmed that it will be merged into the MCU, the "Rise of the Apes" series is waiting for restart; everyone may be most concerned about the follow-up arrangements for the Alien Universe.

Because Ridley Scott's two prequel films (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant) fell short of expectations at the box office and word-of-mouth, there was widespread speculation that Disney might abandon the setting of "Engineer" origins and recreate the origin story of the opposite sex series.

Regardless of the veracity of this rumor, there is no doubt that Disney will never sit idly by while the most important monster image in the hearts of science fiction fans around the world ends. Recently, two new Alien comics were licensed to Marvel for publication, heralding Disney's first steps in integrating the Alien universe, and today I will introduce you to Aliens: Aftermath.

In fact, as early as 1998, Dark Horse Comics mentioned lv-426 after the end of Alien 2 in their works, and the 2013 game Alien: Colonial Marines mainly tells the story of the disaster after the outbreak of disaster on this planet. However, this time the Marvel version of the comic is obviously a reboot, directly inheriting the plot of Alien 2 on the story line, and the earlier comic plots have obviously been abandoned (there is even a saying that Alien 3 and Alien 4 have also been kicked out of the canon universe).

The story of The Aftermath takes place in 2214, thirty-five years after the end of Alien 2. The horrors on Acheron LV-426 have been covered up by Wieland-Yutani under the pretext of an atmospheric processor failure. In the eyes of the public, the "Hadley-Hope Colony" is just one of a large number of alien colonization bases for human beings, and the first colonists often face various unpredictable risks, and it is not surprising what happens, so this matter is quickly forgotten by the public.

With one exception, he was Cartel Vasquez, nephew of Corporal Jenette Vasquez, a heavy gun of the 2nd Battalion B of the Colonial Marine Corps, who was on duty that year, and the protagonist of the game.

When Cartel was 8 years old, he followed his parents to a newly developed mining colony of the Wieland Company, but his parents died halfway through negligence by management, and later learned that his aunt had disappeared while on a confidential mission entrusted by wieland, which made the cartel increasingly distrustful of the Wieland-Yugu company. So for decades, he and several investigative journalist friends were tracking down the final mission location of Janet Vasquez's 2nd Marine Battalion, and finally discovered LV-426 with the help of a mysterious anonymous wire.

The Hadley Hope Colony was still undergoing a livable transformation of LV-426 before the accident, and the air on the planet was barely enough for people to breathe, but the environment was still very harsh. After the colony's atomic energy atmospheric processing device was blown up, the nuclear winter caused LV-426's otherwise fragile environment to deteriorate completely and become uninhabitable, so the "Extrasolar Colonization Authority" (E.C.A) has listed the galaxy as a restricted area. Wielander largely abandoned plans to develop the galaxy , retaining only a research base on the nearby planet Epsilon ( LV-426 is technically a spsilion moon ) .

So by the time Cartel Vasquez and his party landed on LV-426, the entire planet was enveloped in extreme cold, and the Hadley Hope Colony had been reduced to rubble by the earlier explosion.

In the remaining colonial main building, the cartel found the M56 heavy machine gun belonging to his aunt, as well as the long-dried body of a soldier belonging to the 2nd Battalion of the Marine Corps. Cartel realizes he's found the right place, but never finds his aunt's body. They also found the corpses of many alien creatures, and because the hard exoskeletons of aliens are not as easily degraded as human skin, it is difficult to tell when or why these aliens died.

To find out further, the cartel found a way to activate the backup power supply in the main building and searched the main system's A.I for Carter Burke's name according to the mysterious clue. This triggered Wieland's early warning mechanism, which allowed it to monitor the colony with the help of the rebooted A.I system.

After talking to the A.I of Wielander Corporation (behind which the company's executive director, Miss Yutani, was in control), Cartel learned that the company had actually noticed the intentions of their group, and that it was also a deliberate arrangement of the company to find information about LV-426, with the intention of smuggling "an important company asset" back to Earth through them bypassing the supervision of E.C.A., and the so-called asset was actually a hibernation machine located in an underground medical laboratory, to be precise, the person lying inside.

According to Yutani, after the colonists (Newt's father) were first infected by alien larvae (face-hugging worms), the colony immediately sent a security team to the accident site to rescue them. After the Newt family was brought back, several security guards were instructed to re-enter the alien spacecraft for further investigation, and of course they were all infected. Initially, the colonial medical officer also planned to surgically remove the alien creatures from the faces of these people, and successfully removed several face-hugging insects before planting embryos (the two that appeared in the laboratory at the beginning of the film), but unfortunately, the human hosts all died during the operation, so the medical officer decided to freeze and seal the last patient and wait for the company to send medical assistance.

With the colony being captured by the Aliens, the patient remained in an underground medical laboratory, surviving on the standby power supply of the hibernation chamber. This part is not mentioned in the film, but appears in the later spin-off novel River of Sorrow.

Yutani offered attractive conditions, promising not only to help Cartel Vasquez and others eliminate the Federation's criminal record, but also to give them a good enough reward; more importantly, the company had long since taken control of the ignition device of their ship, and without Yutani's consent, they simply could not leave the planet.

So after careful consideration, the cartel could only agree to Yutani's request to transport the "Asset Zero" to the spaceship, but at this time, an accident occurred, and an alien with a glowing blue fluorescence appeared and attacked them. Although the cartel took out a gun and shot the monster, the blood in its body was as cold as liquid nitrogen, and the cartel's torso was immediately frozen into crushed ice, and both sides almost died together.

The manga does not detail the situation of this new alien, and it is not known whether there are more such "irradiated aliens", which can basically be judged to be a new variety that has been mutated by the dual effects of nuclear radiation and extremely cold climate.

Disney's first step in integrating the Alien universe, Alien: Aftermath Story Synopsis Alien: Aftermath

Just when the Wieland Board of Directors thought that their operation on LV-426 would end in failure again, A.I transmitted a personal image of one of the cartel's companions back to headquarters, and the surviving man found the fallen hibernation pod. Despite the severe damage, the cabin is still working and the wake-up procedure has been automatically turned on. However, it was as if something in the hibernator's body was beating violently, obviously not a human heartbeat, and soon a monster gushed out of his chest...
