Japanese game publisher Bandai is working with British animation studio Aardman (Chicken Run, Super Smash Bros. Tom) to develop a new IP. Together, they had previously developed 11-11: Retelling Memories.
The new collaboration is expected to expand into multiple projects, with the two sides saying the first project "exists in multiple mediums."
Work on the project will unfold gradually in early 2021, with Aardman and Bandai looking to create customized stories for contemporary and future platforms. More details will be made public at a later date.
Sean Clarke, General Manager of Aardman Studios, said: "Interactive entertainment is a huge growth area in the entertainment world, and as emerging technologies blur the boundaries between seeing and playing, we very much want to develop strategic partnerships with partners such as Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe who share our vision of creating new IP, embracing this new world, and consolidating our studio's reputation as a multidisciplinary creative hub." ”
