This fable is selected from the Tang Dynasty monk Renren Shi's "Fayuan Zhulin, Foolish Chapter, Miscellaneous Obsessions", "Fayuan Zhulin", also known as "Fayuan Zhulin Biography" or "Fayuan Zhulin Collection". A total of one hundred volumes. It admonishes us to use our brains when encountering things, to observe carefully, to think carefully, not to be unrealistic and clever like monkeys, and in the end it is a bamboo basket to hit the water empty.

A small monkey was playing in the mountains when he saw a large, round moon reflected on the lake. The little monkey jumped up with joy and shouted, "The moon has fallen into the water!" The moon has fallen into the water! The shouts of the little monkeys attracted many monkeys, and everyone looked at the moon in the water and jumped with joy and excitement. An old monkey suggested, "Why don't we fish out the moon?" Its words were immediately echoed by the monkeys. So after consultation, everyone took action. A monkey climbed to an old locust tree that stretched out to the surface of the lake, hooked the tree with its tail, and grabbed another monkey that swung over with its hand. In this way, the monkeys were listed one by one, and the little monkeys at the bottom could finally touch the lake. However, when it reached out to salvage, the moon on the lake shattered. How can not catch the moon, everyone is not discouraged, wait for the lake to calm down the moon is complete and then fish. Just like this, salvage again and again, failure after failure. Just when all the monkeys were tired and exhausted, an old monkey looked up at the moon in the sky and said to everyone, "Don't fish, the moon has always been in the sky." The monkeys looked up at the sky, and sure enough, the moon was still in the sky.
