According to the Chancheng District Landscaping Technology Service Center, this small black insect is called "banyan tube thrips" (hereinafter referred to as "thrips"), which is an insect of the order Taemona and the Thrips family, which is mainly harmful to fig plants such as figs, and the suitable temperature is 25 ° C to 30 ° C, which is generally the peak period of breeding in the spring after stinging. So after entering the spring, as the temperature rises, these little things also become active. The milder the temperature, the stronger the outbreak of the pest. According to the experience of previous years, the growth of thrips will slow down relatively during the high temperature and high heat period in summer.
Thrips prefer to attach to well-grown, leafy, sunny banyan trees. Thrips have a file-suction mouthpiece and feed on the sap of new plant leaves, young shoots, flower utensils and young fruits. The ficus tube thrips harm the young leaves of the banyan tree, stimulate the formation of insect galls in the tissues, and reduce the ornamental value of garden plants. The person in charge of the relevant work said that the neighbors can pay attention to the fallen leaves on the ground on weekdays, and if they find that the waxy skin of the leaves is destroyed and rolled up, then they must quickly stay away from these trees to avoid the thrips falling from the sky.
However, even if it is really climbed by the thrips, the neighbors do not have to worry. Thrips are not too harmful to the human body, and some people will have allergic reactions, but in most cases, you just need to gently shake them off and then go home and rinse your skin with soapy water. If the thrips climb into the eyes, rinse off with water.
In addition, the person in charge of the relevant work suggested that thrips like to attach to bright yellow and bright green objects, and if the neighbors do not want to be disturbed by thrips, they can wear less bright yellow and bright green clothes. If it is to protect the green plants on the balcony of the home, you can also take advantage of this property of the thrips to control it by hanging a yellow sticky worm board ten centimeters above the plant, spraying soapy water, and trimming brown "dumpling-shaped" galls.
Chancheng District Landscaping Technology Service Center is also taking corresponding measures to prevent neighbors from thrips, and garden workers have been spraying corresponding pest control drugs for the severely damaged banyan trees.
