Protecting the Bajiang River and launching the Qing "snail" war

Fushou snail, also known as large bottle snail, apple snail, is an exotic species, known as "giant field snail", introduced to China in 1981 as a edible snail, and has now been listed as the first batch of invasive alien species in China. At present, Fushou snails have been found in paddy fields, wetlands, ecological regulation belts, rivers and lakes along the shores.

Since September 11, there have been a few more Little Red Riding Hoods on both sides of the BaJiang River, holding small shovels and carrying plastic buckets, scraping with shovels one moment and picking them up by hand. Looking closer, it turned out that the Fushouluo Killing Team organized by the Changle community was carrying out a special operation to clean up the Fushouluo in the Bajiang River Basin.

After preliminary investigation, the pink eggs of Fushou snails are widely distributed in the rock walls and weeds on the banks of the Bajiang River Basin, mostly distributed on the stone walls 10-40 cm from the water surface, and a large number of discarded Fushou snail remnants salvaged by fishermen have also been found on the riverbank. The Fushou snail is large, fast-reproducing, adaptable and widely eaten, and small fish and shrimp are also its food sources, posing a threat to the bajiang river ecosystem and biodiversity. The Fushou snail extermination team grabbed the critical period of spawning peaks, carried out extermination operations such as picking up snails and scraping eggs, and harmlessly treated the fushou snails and egg blocks found in a deep pit and lime powder landfill.

Next, as the temperature continues to rise, The Fushou snail will gradually enter the peak period of breeding, and the Changle community will further strengthen the frequency and intensity of cleaning, effectively control the production and reproduction of the Fushou snail, and solidly promote the prevention and control of the Fushou snail.
