152 larks rescued! The case of the extraordinarily large hunting and trafficking of wild birds was solved

On the 26th, the police in Hulan District of Harbin City rescued a large number of rare birds from bird dealers, a total of 152 Mongolian larks, which belong to the national second-level protected birds. Unfortunately, animal protection experts said after receiving that the 149 baby birds rescued would not be able to return to nature, lose the opportunity to become wild birds, and even if they could survive in the future, they would only spend the rest of their lives in the zoo. According to reports, the case is a particularly significant case of hunting, trafficking, transportation and sales of wild birds.

Recently, animal protection volunteers have reported that there are people selling larks online, and the number is huge. After obtaining this clue, the Hulan police quickly launched an investigation and controlled the suspect, and 152 Mongolian larks were rescued at the scene, all of which were live birds, only 3 adult birds, and the remaining 149 were young birds.

After preliminary investigation, the birds were trafficked from outside the province and sold by bird dealers on a short video platform, using industry codes when selling, and the price was not cheap. On the 26th, the Hulan District police sent the rescued Mongolian larks to the Xiaoxing'anling Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Research Center.

According to the person in charge of the Xiaoxing'anling Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Research Center, Mongolian larks belong to the national second-level protected birds, of which only 3 adult birds, the rest are juveniles, and the case of hunting such a large number of rare protected birds is very rare. Among them, the survival of 149 young birds is more difficult, even if they survive, they also lose the opportunity to become wild birds, because they do not have adult birds in the critical period of growth, but are artificially fed, there is no survival ability in the wild, and the rest of their lives can only be spent in zoos, which is a major loss to ecological environmental protection.

At present, the case is still under further investigation.
