The Barber of Seville is a two-act comedy opera based on the satirical comedy of the same name by the French writer Beaumascher, written by Stelbini, who composed the music in just thirteen days.

Its unsatisfactory premiere was one of the most famous failed premieres in the history of Western European opera, for many reasons. Before Rossini, the italian composer Paixello, who was then an old Italian composer, had composed Bormasche's comedy The Barber of Seville into an opera.

Before Rossini, the italian composer Pesciero had composed Bormacher's comedy The Sevilla Barber into an opera, and although Rossini was ordered to do so, this behavior could not escape the excuse of "great disrespect". On February 5, 1816, when it was premiered at the Argentine Theater in Rome, many people did not listen to it, and began to whistle and cheer. As the plot progresses, the audience begins to roar, stomp on the floor, and even throw dead cats on the stage... The situation could not be controlled, and it could only end hastily.

The opera The Barber of Seville tells a love story that took place in Seville, Spain, in the seventeenth century: the young Count Almaviva fell in love with the beautiful maiden Rosina. But Rosina's guardian, the greedy and cunning doctor Bartolò, wants to take Rosina for himself and marry her. In order to fulfill the love of his friend Almaviva, the clever, humorous and upright barber Figaro made suggestions, cleverly arranged various countermeasures, fought with the magnates, and finally helped a couple of lovers break through Bartolo's obstacles, achieve the victory of love, and finally become a family.
