Recently, NBA star Iverson was interviewed by BR reporter Taylor Rooks, and said when talking about his retirement career and dream of serving at the 76ers:
"I've forgotten more basketball than some people know. Everyone knows I'd rather help this team. I'm a lifelong 76er, I have the blood of the 76ers running through me, and everyone knows I want to help this team. I've been retired for 11 years? I don't understand why I didn't somehow become part of the 76ers staff. If I could serve with the 76ers, I would be the happiest person in the world. As for the money? It has nothing to do with it. It's just that I want to be myself, and I, as a 76er, want to help the team. I don't understand why I wasn't recruited. I've always loved 76 people, it's all love, I just never understood the [failure to take office]. ”
Iverson played 12 seasons for the 76ers in 722 regular-season games, averaging 27.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.3 steals in 41.1 minutes per game.
