The "Pictorial Cover Project" is an art project promoted by the art magazine Pictorial since 2019, which has entered the 3rd issue this year and has become an important experimental field for the magazine's media production in recent years, which not only explores the possibility of media dissemination extending from the plane to the space, but also focuses on exploring the depth and breadth of the creative "interaction" between art journals and artists.
The exhibition held at the Art Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Guangzhou presents the second phase (exhibition generation) of the "Fast and Slow 2020 Pictorial Cover Project", from the journal to the field, the artists use physical works to further deepen their visual expression of last year's "fast and slow" theme.

Meng Yao, curator of this exhibition and editor-in-chief of Pictorial Magazine, said that this exhibition, which involves the proposition of time, strives to establish a multi-dimensional relationship between media production and artistic creation in the exhibition hall in the form of "spatial reconstruction", and enlarges the pertinence of artists' thinking and expression. For Pictorial Journal, the exhibition is not only an editorial means of media production, but also a way to supplement and revise existing communication content.

Guangzhou artist Huang Yishan's work "Fighting the Epidemic and Eliminating Happiness" was transformed from the cover of the "Pictorial Magazine" magazine in March 2020 into a huge canvas of about 3 meters × 4 meters at the exhibition site. Huang Yishan once said when talking about the background of creation: Based on this epidemic, it will still stimulate the subject matter I will create in the future, and the paintings may have some slow and hot reactions, and they will pay more attention to narrative and locality in continuing the previous ideas.

In conjunction with this exhibition, the Art Museum of Guangdong Academy of Fine Arts also hosted a forum on "Art Communication and Media Production" on the opening day. At present, as far as the art industry is concerned, not only is art media facing difficulties and challenges brought about by the great changes in communication methods, but also "media production" in a broader sense has become the "standard" of the functions of various art research and display institutions. In response to different content production and dissemination demands, how can art media and art institutions transform themselves and shape values? Under the auspices of Hu Bin, executive deputy director of the Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Yang Xiaoyan, Guan Yuda, Zheng Wen, Zheng Ziyu, Tian Meng, Song Zhenxi and other guests had an in-depth discussion on the above topics.
