On July 16th, the National Finals of the 3rd General Surgery Video Editing Competition organized by the Surgeon Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association were held in Shanghai, and Tang Bin, deputy director and deputy chief physician of the General Surgery Department of Xiangtan Central Hospital, won the first prize in the country with the first place in the colorectal group. This is also another national honor since he won the second prize in the national finals of the "Goldfinger" surgery video competition last year.

The Grand Finals are divided into two parts. In the morning, video editing work is carried out in the closed venue, and each contestant needs to edit hours of surgical video footage to 8 minutes within 4 hours, and mark the text, supplement the information, and process and beautify according to their own understanding. In the afternoon, at the 14th Annual Meeting of Surgeons of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association held at the same time, video demonstrations and on-site speeches were held, and more than 40 top experts from the field of general surgery in the country asked questions, commented and scored on the contestants.

He skillfully integrated classical culture and surgical techniques, fully demonstrated his thorough understanding of surgical ideas, accurate identification of anatomical structures, and finally surprised the audience with exquisite video editing skills, beautiful Chinese style pictures, fluent and accurate live speeches, which were highly praised by all the judges and won the first place in the colorectal group with an overwhelming advantage.
Surgical videos are shadows of surgical procedures. The general surgery video editing competition not only tests the contestants' video editing level, on-site speech ability, psychological quality and adaptability, but also reflects the level of surgical operation, surgical understanding ability and clinical knowledge accumulation. The competition is divided into four fields: liver, pancreas, stomach and colorectum, and has been successfully held for three consecutive sessions since 2019, and has won the high attention and recognition of the national general surgery colleagues. In May this year, the audition was launched, with the participation of more than 100 general surgeons across the country, and finally 18 people stood out and were shortlisted for the national finals, including 4 in the colorectal group, and Tang Bin was the only finalist in the gastrointestinal field in Hunan.
Under the leadership of Professor Luo Henggui, director of the Department of General Surgery, Xiangtan Central Hospital, xiangtan Central Hospital has become the best professional gastrointestinal surgery and weight loss and metabolic surgery department in the region and the province. There is the only surgical specialty gastrointestinal endoscopy room and B ultrasound room in the provincial and municipal hospitals, and the techniques of intestinal stent insertion, intestinal obstruction catheterization, and percutaneous gastrostomy are routinely carried out. Its minimally invasive ultra-low rectal cancer preservation, full laparoscopic radical gastric cancer resection, minimally invasive obesity metabolic surgery and other technologies are at the domestic advanced level.
