Singer Zhang Mai's National Day memory: The black and white photo of the auditorium will never be forgotten

Today is the 68th birthday of the mother of the motherland. For Zhang Mai, a famous military singer from Chongqing, the most unforgettable national day memories of his youth are in an old black-and-white photo taken in the People's Auditorium.

Because of the production of the large-scale sound and picture drama "Answer", Zhang Mai recently returned to Chongqing to live for a long time. In her garden-like home in northern Chongqing, she showed the precious photo to the upstream news reporter, Chongqing Morning News.

Singer Zhang Mai's National Day memory: The black and white photo of the auditorium will never be forgotten

"It was taken on the 30th anniversary of the National Day in 1979, when I was studying at Jiangbei Xincun Primary School and was a member of the Cultural and Entertainment Committee of the Young Pioneer Brigade." Zhang Mai wore glasses, half squinted his glasses, immersed in memories, "Influenced by my family, I liked to engage in literature and art since I was a child, what dancing, recitation, painting, everything can be played, but at that time singing was not my strength, not to mention that I set my ambition to be a singer early." In short, at that time, I had a lot of ideas and felt that everything was possible. ”

On National Day that year, Zhang Mai's school choir was invited to perform in the Auditorium, which was simply a "supreme honor" for her and her classmates. Before, everyone could only look at the palace-like house from the outside, but this time we could finally really walk into it and take its stage. So the night before, many of us were so excited that we couldn't sleep. ”

Can't sleep? Then find something to do. The performance required a white shirt and a red strappy skirt, and Zhang Mai was so excited that his mother pulled aside and had to iron the skirt herself. "There was no iron at home at that time, so I used an enamel jar to fill it with boiling water to get it, and before ironing, I had to spray saliva in my mouth on my shirt, which was very cumbersome, but I didn't feel tired when I was excited." Zhang Mai said.

The next day, they sang "The Young Pioneers Song" in the Auditorium, "When they finished singing 'We are the successors of communism,' the pride in their hearts was indescribable." Zhang Mai smiled and said that according to the regulations, they were not good at taking pictures casually, but she still took advantage of the waiting room to pull up her classmates and run to the platform of the auditorium, posing a classic pose of a red girl scout, recording the exciting day.

Later, each member of the choir also received a loaf of bread as dry food, but Zhang Mai was hungry and did not want to eat it, "took it home and gave it to his parents as a gift." In retrospect, that bread was the first material harvest of my singing career. ”
