Wai Cai, Giroud: I don't accept the situation at the Blues, but I won't criticize the coach

Olivier Giroud said he "can't accept" his current position outside of Chelsea's starting line-up – but he would not criticise the Blues manager.

On Friday, France beat Iceland 1-0 in Euro 2020 qualifiers, and Olivier Giroud scored a penalty for France, but he has yet to score in the Premier League this season.

The 33-year-old striker has only made three appearances in the Premier League this season, with just one start, making his days at Stamford Bridge as he was last season under former manager Maurizio Sarri.

Wai Cai, Giroud: I don't accept the situation at the Blues, but I won't criticize the coach

Asked how he accepted his attacking pick at Chelsea, Giroud told Le Pelerin magazine: "Accept? No, I don't accept it.

"In some cases, you don't have to resign yourself to fate. I have always been respectful and humble. Even if I disagree with the coach, I don't criticize him. But I can't accept it myself because I know my value on the pitch. Last year, when I felt I should play, I asked the coach (Sarri) for an explanation. ”

Since moving from Arsenal to Chelsea in January 2018, Giroud has played just 14 Premier League games and scored five goals.

He noted that he was more durable at the club than the likes of Morata and Higuain, but also noted that he was disappointed that his durability was not rewarded.

Tammy Tammy Abraham has become Chelsea's centre-forward of choice this season, while Olivier Giroud is waiting for a chance to play in the squad.

"It wasn't easy to leave Arsenal to join Chelsea two years ago. I love Arsenal. Olivier Giroud added: "But it's an improvement because Chelsea and Manchester City are the England teams that have won the most titles in the last 10 years. ”

"I had competitors on the attacking line – Morata and Higuain – and they ended up leaving. In the end I won: I played in the 2018 FA Cup final and the 2019 Europa League final. I started the season again in difficult circumstances, but as my brother said, I always grew up in adversity. Although I wish it could be a little less! ”
