Qinghai Gonghe, China News Service, October 15 (Reporter Sun Rui) The world's first clean energy UHV channel phase II delivery project was officially opened in Qinghai on the 15th.
The world's first transmission channel mainly transporting new energy, the Qingyu ± 800 kV UHVDC Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Qingyu DC Project"), completely relies on the complementary ability of clean energy to independently supply power, and is the world's first UHV channel built for clean energy delivery. The supporting power supply project is divided into two phases, the first phase of 5 million kilowatts has been completed in 2020, and the second phase of the 5.3 million kilowatts of new energy power project is planned to be completed in 2023.

On October 15, the world's first clean energy UHV channel phase II transmission project was officially launched in Qinghai. It is reported that the project starts in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province and ends in Zhumadian City, Henan Province, passing through Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi and Henan provinces, with a total length of 1587 kilometers. The commissioning of the first phase of the power supply project not only promoted the construction of Qinghai Clean Energy Demonstration Province, but also effectively solved the problem of environmental pollution in central and eastern China. The development and construction of the second phase of the 5.3 million kilowatt power supply project will further promote the development of clean energy demonstration bases in Hainan and Haixi in Qinghai and the transmission of clean electricity in Qinghai, and at the same time meet the needs of Henan's load development and improve Henan's new energy allocation structure, and provide a typical demonstration for the national energy production and consumption revolution.
Xie Xiaoping, secretary of the party committee and chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Power Investment Yellow River Hydropower Company, said that the company is responsible for the development and construction of the Second Lot 2 project of the Qingyu DC Project in the Hainan Base, with a dynamic investment of 6.7 billion yuan, including the 900,000-kilowatt photovoltaic project in Hainan Prefecture and the 100,000-kilowatt solar thermal project in Haixi Prefecture.
"In this project, we adopted an advanced design concept and equipment configuration. By configuring dual-axis tracking + flat single-axis tracking + fixed + energy storage system + regional high-precision prediction system, the power station itself realizes 'optical complementarity, optical storage complementarity', and at the same time carries out the research and application of optical storage power station system integration technology and control technology, which improves the overall power quality and land utilization rate of the power station. It also greatly reduces the amount of excavation on the site, reduces the destruction of native vegetation, and protects the fragile ecological environment of the plateau. Xie Xiaoping said that the construction of the second phase of the Qingyu DC UHV project will greatly improve the peak regulation capacity of the base power supply, output stable and reliable clean energy, further enhance the level of clean energy development and utilization in Qinghai Province, and is of great significance to promoting China to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality". After the second phase of the project is put into operation, it is expected that the annual new clean energy power generation capacity will be about 11.1 billion kWh, which is equivalent to saving about 3.1 million tons of standard coal per year, reducing CO2 emissions by about 9.3 million tons, reducing SO2 emissions by about 35,000 tons, reducing NO2 emissions by about 36,000 tons, and reducing soot emissions by about 42,000 tons.
Che Junping, deputy director of the Qinghai Provincial Development and Reform Commission and director of the Provincial Energy Bureau, said that sending clean electricity from Qinghai Province to the eastern and central regions through the UHV transmission channel can not only achieve complementary advantages between the east and the west, but also promote investment and steady growth, and also drive the development of clean energy industry in Qinghai Province and provide employment opportunities.
