4 October is World Animal Day 2021. In 1931, a number of ecologists met in Florence, Italy, to formally propose world animal day. Since the 1920s, various forms of commemoration have been held around the world every year on October 4.
Since entering the 21st century, World Animal Day has become heavier and heavier, because more and more animals are on the verge of extinction due to the influence of human activities. On the 2007 Red List of Endangered Species released by the world conservation union in September, common animals such as apes, corals, condors and dolphins are at risk of extinction, and alarm bells for the extinction of animal species around the world have sounded again.
The Red List shows that 41,415 species worldwide are threatened with survival. Of these, 16,306 species are at risk of extinction, an increase of 188 species. In the past 500 years, 785 known species have gone extinct worldwide, and another 65 species have survived through captivity or captivity.
It is estimated that there are about 1.7 million species recorded by humans. The IUCN has placed particular emphasis on the dangers of animal species, with a quarter of the planet's mammals, one-third of amphibians and one-eighth of birds at risk.
The earth is not only the home of human beings, but also the home of various animals and plants. On World Animal Day, Xiaobian calls on everyone to start from the side, not to feed animals at will, save paper, do not litter, take the initiative to protect the environment, and believe that each of us can become a person who loves animals and loves nature.
