The weather is warmer and the flowers are green
Many people have plans to go on a wild trip
But everyone should pay attention when going up the mountain
There is a kind of bug
This is also going to happen at this time
It's what we often call "grass climbers."

Grass crawlers are scientifically known as ticks
It is a common blood-sucking insect in the northeast region, although it has no wings and cannot fly, but it crawls quickly among grass and trees.
Grass crawlers resemble common ladybugs, but when they suck up to the blood, their bodies can swell up to 100 times larger to become the size of a spider.
Grass crawlers are a poisonous blood-sucking insect. Many people don't feel it after being bitten. Because there is something similar to anesthetic in the blood of grass crawlers.
Let's look at a case first
Last summer, the Second Hospital of Heilongjiang Province received a 29-year-old man who was playing in Xiaoxing'anling Forest Park when he was bitten by ticks and returned three days later with fever, muscle aches, weakness and head and neck pain. Body temperature to hospital is up to 39.5 °C.
Based on the above clinical diagnosis, the Department of Toxicology and Neurologists confirmed that he was suffering from an insect-borne infectious disease - Lyme disease.
Lyme disease is the main clinical manifestation of neurologic damage, which is mostly endemic in forests or forest marginal areas, and has a large distribution range.

Grass crawlers are so maddening,
But there are people who "like" it
Since mid-April this year,
Harbin Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention
5 researchers at the Vector Institute
With a new task,
They ran to the mountains and the countryside
140 grass crawlers were caught and came back to study.
Studying blood-sucking bugs?
Here's what it's all about
......
Wang Yue, director of the Vector Research Institute of the Harbin Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, posted the newly caught tick photos in his circle of friends, and was instantly "hot", and colleagues rushed to see the true appearance of the grass crawler.
After some demonstration, Chen Hongyu, deputy director of the Vector Research Institute, slowly poured 70 ° C warm water into the test tube containing ticks, and the ticks that were originally "curled up" suddenly stretched out their "hands and feet" and died. Ticks in the test tube became specimens.
In the laboratory, 140 ticks were soaked in more than a dozen transparent test tubes, and to the naked eye, the ticks were black, round, as big as sesame seeds, stretching "hands and feet", and the dense ticks made people look "chilling".
What do you want to do to catch grass crawlers?
It was originally intended to do density monitoring of ticks.
This year, the national vector biological density monitoring network included ticks for the first time, and Harbin was one of the monitoring points.
In the past, it was all monitoring mosquitoes and flies and other four pests, this year required april, May and mid-June to do tick monitoring, researchers went to 4 monitoring points in Harbin City, some of the caught ticks for species identification, and the other part was mailed to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention for research.
Ticks after blood-sucking
There are more than 30 kinds of ticks in the country, Heilongjiang Province has recorded 7 species, 140 ticks caught in two months, in the laboratory after species identification, found that there are two species: forest tick and full ditch hard tick, and forest tick mainly.
"Both ticks have previously been isolated from forest encephalitis virus and Lyme treponema, and once bitten, they may be transmitted to forest encephalitis or Lyme disease. Therefore, citizens who go out to the grass and mountains must be protected. Wang Yue reminded.
Comparison of blood-sucking ticks and unsucked ticks
In the lab, Wang Yue found a tick from a test tube that was parasitic and plucked after sucking blood from a sheep. Under a microscope, blood-sucking ticks are noticeably four or five times swollen compared to bloodless ticks.

"Ticks are mainly prosthetic heads for blood sucking, the body is hung outside, when found ticks, whether on the surface of the human body or animal, or on the wall, the ground, do not directly grasp with your hands, let alone squeeze through, it will secrete venom." You can grab it with tweezers with gloves and burn it. ”
Chen Hongyu said that if the tick bites on the skin, do not pull it by hand, if you pull it out hard, it may be directly pulled off, resulting in the prosthetic head of the tick remaining in the body, and the venom penetrates into the human body. You should go to the hospital and ask a doctor for help.
Which part of the body is most likely to bite?
The New Evening News reporter learned from the Heilongjiang Provincial Forest Industry General Hospital that in the past, most of the people who were bitten by grass crawlers were forest workers and farmers who went up the mountain to pick, but in recent years, the number of citizens who accidentally bitten themselves in the suburbs has increased significantly.
Summer is a high incidence period, holidays, weekends after the patients will be treated by grass crawler bites, most of them are skin redness, swelling, inflammation and other symptoms.
The study found that insect-borne infectious diseases account for 5%-10% of the total annual incidence of infectious diseases in China, but its number of deaths accounts for 30%-40% of the total deaths of infectious diseases. Tick bites can cause allergies, ulcers or inflammation, and can spread a variety of diseases. The study found that ticks can carry 83 viruses, 14 bacteria, 17 treponemals, and 32 protozoa.
Combined with the cases, the site of tick bites is concentrated in the neck, behind the ears, underarms, inner thighs, genitals, groin, etc.
What if I get bitten?
Doctors remind that to go to the field work or travelers, should wear light-colored, protective clothing, such as trousers, long-sleeved tops, stockings, etc., while tightening the pants, cuffs and necklines, neck around the white towel, often check the clothes and body surface on the way, if found by tick bites, immediately carefully pull out, do not forcibly pull out and crush the insect body, so as not to prevent the pathogen from penetrating deep into the body through the skin.
In addition, when returning indoors, bathe and rinse as soon as possible. If possible, tick repellent and tick removal drugs should be used in time to prevent tick bites.
