Recently, Japan's most authoritative film magazine "Film Shunbao" announced the top ten Japanese films in 2017, and the departments are well deserved. See which ones have you seen? What did you miss?
1st Prize: "The Night Sky Always Has the Greatest Density of Blue"
"The Night Sky Always Has the Greatest Density of Blue" is a new work directed by Hiroya Ishii and won the best Japanese film of the year.
Based on the best-selling poems of the same name, the film revolves around two strangers in Tokyo, telling a realistic love story of a modern city. A film that is both lonely and warm is like being in a familiar and unfamiliar city.
2nd Prize: "Flower Basket"
A new work by Nobuhiko Obayashi, director of "New World of Senses", adapted from The Short Story of the same name by Kazuo Tan. The painting style is still the same weird, the photography is beautiful, and the emphasis is on portraying human nature in the war era.
3rd Place: "Ah, Wilderness"
In fact, this is my favorite Japanese movie of 2017.
"Ah, Wilderness" is a burning and mournful movie, it is inspirational and moving, it is confused and sadistic, telling a burning story about revenge, inspiration, and blood.
This Japanese film is quite stunning, the amazing thing is not only in the scale, not only in boxing, it is more amazing is the thinking of society and life, with a story that burns to the extreme and depicts a confused postmodern world.
4th Place: "Born in a Young Child"
A tearful and heartwarming film starring Tadanobu Asano and Rena Tanaka.
The film is about a divorced man and a divorced woman who form a new family, and one day, their eldest daughter suddenly wants to see her biological father, who once abused his mother, and his adoptive father strongly opposed it.
"Born in a Young Son" focuses on the non-blood relationship between father and daughter, and the emotion is delicate, the feelings are restrained and euphemistic, and the heart is warm and tear-inducing.
Fifth Place: The Walking Invaders
Japanese science fiction dramas, novel ideas, the story is quite attractive, the most important thing is that the goddess Masami Nagasawa, or as beautiful as ever.
6th Place: Bangkok Night
Bangkok night, just looking at the title is full of temptation, and this is indeed a seductive movie, telling the story of a woman in the Red Light District and her lover.
This is a small-budget film, produced through crowdfunding, and the overall performance is unexpectedly amazing.
Seventh Place: "Her Life Is Not Wrong"
A group portrait film set five years after the Great Japanese Earthquake, the story revolves around the living conditions of a group of women, cross-telling, and each woman is carefully portrayed.
Eighth Place: "The Third Degree Suspect"
It's Hirokazu Kore-eda's new work, and this time, instead of continuing to make the feature film he does best, he brought a crime suspense film.
The Third Suspect is starring Masaharu Fukuyama, in which he stars as a lawyer who defends the murderer, who falls into a dark place as the truth is revealed.
Ninth Place: "The Birds She Didn't Know Their Names"
A new film starring Yu Aoi, Yu Aoi offered one of the sexiest performances, and the bed scene was wonderful.
"Those Birds She Doesn't Know WhoSe Names" is a suspense film, and all that people feel is darkness and mourning. In addition to Yu Aoi's bold performance, another highlight of this film is that the suspense control is excellent and the reversal is powerful.
10th Place: "Life is a Tight Seam"
Among the top ten Japanese films, although this one ranks tenth, it ranks second in my mind.
"Life is Tightly Sewn" is a meticulous and moving drama film, and it is warm inside after watching it. It looks at gender through the eyes of a child, telling a warm story in a calm narrative style.
