Kotani Castle fell and the Second Long Island Expedition was fought

author:Neon anecdotes

In August of the first year of Tenshō (i.e., 1573), after Oda Nobunaga destroyed Asakura, he began to attack Asai-ie Castle. On September 1, Otari Castle fell, and Asai Nagamasa committed suicide on the day of its fall.

Many Ōkawa dramas until the fall of Otani Castle, there is a scene in which Aichi and her three daughters leave Otani Castle under the guidance of emissaries sent by Oda Nobunaga and receive the latter's protection. On the other side, Asai Nagamasa committed suicide in the burning castle tower.

However, the Japanese scholar Hiroshi Ota pointed out that the main part of Otari Castle had not been found scorched, so Otari Castle did not catch fire at the time of the fall, and the above-mentioned bridge section of Asai Nagamasa committing suicide in the fire did not exist in history.

Hiroshi Ota also pointed out that in all the good historical records, there is no record of Aichi and her three daughters fleeing Otari Castle. It is even said that in all reliable first-hand historical sources, this matter is not even mentioned. However, judging from the fact that Aichi later died together with Shibata Katsuya in Echizen Kitajo Castle, and the three daughters became toyotomi Hideyoshi Side Room, Kyogoku Takaji Masamune, and Tokugawa Hidetada Masamune, they did flee from Otani Castle. The question is, will they really flee just as Otari Castle is about to fall? In August, asaka and Asami betrayed their vassals, Asakura Yoshikei evacuated and were forced to commit suicide shortly after, Andi Castle was isolated, and in such a situation, the Asai family was unlikely to have any expectations of reversing the situation, and the fall of Otani Castle was only a matter of time. Therefore, Hiroshi Ota proposes that Aichi and his three daughters will not flee when Otari Castle is about to fall, as Oikawa drama showed, but should be sent out of the castle at an earlier time.

However, Asai Nagamasa's sister-in-law did not have such a good life, and Oda Nobunaga had him searched for and executed in Sekigahara. Oda Nobunaga then granted Hideyoshi Habara the land he had inherited from Hara Asai in the north of the river.

On September 4, Nobunaga sent direct troops to Sawa-san and ordered The Shibata Katsuya to prepare for the capture of Kaori Castle. When Shibata attacked catfish castle, Kenji Hexagon surrendered and withdrew. Nobunaga achieved satisfactory results on all sides of Omi and returned to Gifu on September 6.

On September 24, Oda Nobunaga once again launched another offensive against Nagashima, Oda Nobunaga had realized that in order to win, he needed to gain sea supremacy, blockaded Long Island with water forces, cut off Long Island's sea supplies, and ordered his second son Oda Nobunaga to mobilize ships to meet in Ise before the war, but the Ōmito congregation was unwilling to accept the request and progress was not smooth.

On the 26th, Sakuma Nobumori, Hashiba Hideyoshi, Niwa Nagahide, and Beeya Ryūryu attacked the city of Nishibetsu, which was entrenched by Ichigo forces, and captured it. Shibata Katsuya, Kazumi Takikawa, and others also captured Sakai Castle, surrendering on October 6. Katsuya Shibata and Kazuyoshi Takikawa turned to attack the Kondo clan of Fukayabu Castle, and the Oda army launched a Kinhori siege of Fukayabu Castle, and the Kondo clan was defeated.

On October 8, Oda Nobunaga marched to Higashibetsu, and the neighboring Isaka, Susugi, Akori, Tanabe, Kuwabe, Chikusa, nagafumi and other clans surrendered to Oda Nobunaga and offered hostages to show their submission. Nakajima of Shirayama Castle insisted that he would not surrender, and Oda Nobunaga sent four men to lead an army of four men, Nameuma Nobumori, Beiya Ryūryu, Niwa Nagahide, and Hashiba Hideyoshi, to attack Shirayama Castle, build mounds around Shirayama Castle, and send Kanori to attack the castle. Nakajima, knowing that he was unable to defend the castle, surrendered and retreated.

At this point, Oda Nobunaga had pacified Kita-Ise, and more than half of nagashima's crowd in Hanoi had been damaged. Nobunaga then ordered the construction of Yada Castle and arranged for Kazuyoshi Takigawa to settle in. Due to the unsuccessful mobilization of ships, Oda Nobunaga was forced to abandon the attack on Long Island.

On October 25, Oda Nobunaga led his army to retreat. However, on the left side of the retreat road is the overgrown multi-art mountain, and on the right is the mouth of the Great River. Nagashima's crowd, who had received the news, took the opportunity to pursue, arranging for archers and musketeers to ambush in advance in various mountain main roads, and the good archers of Iga and Koga came to help and shot the Oda army. Oda Nobunaga ordered Lin Xiuzhen's son to stay at the old Hayashi Tōjō Shrine, and eventually Hayashi Tōmasa was killed in battle with more than a hundred of his men. The Oda army was not badly damaged, it was raining heavily, and some of the Oda soldiers died in battle and some froze to death, and on October 26, Oda Nobunaga returned to Gifu.
