First of all, the Taiwan region is different from Western Europe, and its sovereignty belongs to the Chinese government, which is universally recognized by the international community, and although its defense is partially armed by the United States, it is not the same as the large-scale stationing of US troops in Western Europe during the Cold War.
Moreover, the US government has always been full of controversy over the dispatch of troops to Taiwan, including many government officials, US generals and even the media, who believe that the United States should not promise to send troops to Taiwan, but should adopt a "vague policy".
