Maintenance of the telescope (Part 1)

Sometimes for idle telescopes, if left in a humid environment for a long time, it is easy to breed mold. The weather is good to be dry, especially in the rainy season, if you accidentally love the mirror, it will become moldy, the light damage the coating, and the heavy will cause the mirror to be scrapped. So how do we maintain it to prevent moldy lenses?

Maintenance of the telescope (Part 1)

Some telescopes improve the durability of telescopes by adopting nitrogen-filled waterproof design, extending their service life, protecting the internal prism group of the telescope with dry nitrogen, so that water vapor and dust cannot enter the interior of the telescope. Therefore, the general military telescope (Type 95) or some civilian telescopes will adopt a nitrogen-filled waterproof design to keep the telescope dry in a humid environment and prevent mold from wall lenses.

Maintenance of the telescope (Part 1)

During use, if dust or marks are found on the lenses, do not scrub with water. It should be blown first with a blowing balloon (sold in a photographic equipment store) or a medical earwash ball (sold in a pharmacy), and be careful not to blow it with your mouth, because this may cause saliva or dust to fall on the mirror surface and increase the workload. If you can't blow it off, try to dip anhydrous alcohol or ether alcohol mixture with a degreasing cotton swab, and be careful not to dip too much liquid to avoid flowing into the inside of the telescope, especially some telescopes that are not sealed with nitrogen. The technique is to wipe from the center to the outside, you can also use a mirror pen, the soft leather pad of the mirror pen can easily wipe off the water marks and handprints on the lens, and almost no traces, which is very good for the cleaning effect of the initial mold. It should be noted that if there is water or heavy moisture on the mirror surface, it should be cleaned with a mirror pen after drying.

Maintenance of the telescope (Part 1)

Do not wipe directly dry wipe, which will lead to damage to the coating, some common tools used to clean the lens, such as lens paper, etc., are easy to leave a slight scratch on the lens during use, so it is not very recommended. In learning to clean the lenses this level must pay attention to details, to remember not to rub often, cleaning should be in the case of last resort, so the following points are particularly important.

1. In order to avoid dust falling on the lens, when using the telescope, the objective lens cover and eyepiece cover should be covered in time.

2. Do not touch the lens with your hands to avoid staining the lens with grease fingerprints and other aspects of the imaging clarity and subsequent cleaning.

3. Do not put the telescope in a car under the hot sun or in the sun for a long time to prevent high temperature from accelerating the aging of rubber.

4. The telescope should be kept in a dry environment and taken out from time to time for ventilation.
