The white crane, the "provincial bird" of Jiangxi Province, migrates to the Poyang Lake area every year to overwinter. Recently, the staff of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve Management Bureau in Jiangxi Province monitored for the first time the first white crane that flew to winter this year, 14 days earlier than last year.

It is understood that this is the first time since the opening of the winter of migratory birds in Poyang Lake that the Poyang Lake Conservation Area has monitored and clearly recorded the figure of wintering white cranes. Zhan Meijuan, head of the Yugan Conservation and Monitoring Station of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve Management Bureau, said: "We were pleasantly surprised to find that it was in good physical condition, foraging for food, and sometimes looking around. At the same time, we also monitored this surrounding and found no companions.

Years of monitoring records show that in previous years, the vanguard of the White Crane generally arrived in the Yuganhu area at the end of October, and this year it arrived 14 days earlier than last year. Zhan Meijuan, head of the Yugan Conservation monitoring station of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve Management Bureau, said: "It may be affected by cold air, they fly faster, so the time to reach Poyang Lake is earlier." “

In addition to the white crane, the staff of the protection monitoring station also monitored other wintering migratory birds on the same day, of which the total number of geese and ducks has exceeded 10,000, which also marks the official entry of Poyang Lake into this year's migratory bird winter. The Administration of Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi is taking a number of measures to protect wintering migratory birds and wetland resources in Poyang Lake area and ensure the safe wintering of migratory birds.
