Windswept is a horror film directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swindon, and Chloe Grace Moretz, released in the United States on November 2, 2018. The film is a remake of Dario Aquido's 1977 horror film of the same name. Set in a 1970s Dance Company in Berlin, the story tells the story of a young American ballet dancer who goes to the German Dance Academy to study and discovers the dark, sinister secrets of the school.
Susie Bennion actress Dakota Johnson, an ambitious young dancer from Mennonite, Ohio, took an exam at a very prestigious dance school in Berlin, performed a very wonderful dance, got the opportunity to enter the school, and was granted a full scholarship and free accommodation qualification.
Mrs Blank actress Tilda Swinton, an internationally renowned dancer and headmistress of the Ballet School, has a cold personality that dare not be approached.
Patricia actress Chloe Grace Moretz, an American dancer, has always been suspicious of the dance school, believing that the school is a cover for witch groups, thinking that her fear is just her paranoid delusion, but her subsequent disappearance and the notebook she left behind prompted others to investigate.
Susie, an American girl, comes to a historic ballet academy in Germany for further study, only to encounter a series of mysterious events in the school, and the bloody and brutal killing of female students. After searching, Susie discovers that the school was originally the home base of a group of witches, and she will be the next victim! Eventually, Susie kills the Dark Witch and escapes from the Cave.
"Stormy Wind" is a gorgeous, scary, tough film that tries to achieve many goals, but fails to make the audience appreciate the cruelty of the past and the nature of human nature. (New York Magazine Review)
The film climaxes in the final scene, and it is ridiculously overheated. But director Luca Guadagnino uses messy visuals to show a vortex of emotion in a big scene, and the power of this emotional contagion almost overshadows the flaws of the film itself. (International Screen Review)
The film combines dance and horror elements to create a new visual art, and the resulting look and feel can be called beautiful and unbearable, so that the audience can't help but suffer from the sensory impact it brings. "Stormy Wind" is crazy and torturous, but it is bold and innovative in color and visual presentation, and there are more artistic achievements than content.
