Zhang Lu: Expand bus lanes to expand the application of air-conditioned vehicles

——Zhang Lu, a deputy to the Municipal People's Congress and chairman of Qingdao Bus Group

At present, the road traffic congestion in the main urban area of the island city is becoming more and more serious, the speed of bus traffic is declining, and the transportation efficiency is seriously restricted. According to statistics, during peak hours, the average speed of buses is about 10 kilometers per hour, and about 1/4 of the capacity has not been played. In this case, the bus lane is the most effective way to improve the speed of traffic and vehicle turnover, and the current rate of bus lanes in our city is only 2.57%, which is in a backward position among the 15 sub-provincial cities in the country, only 0.07% higher than Wuhan.

As the head of Qingdao Bus Group, Zhang Lu, deputy to the Municipal People's Congress and chairman of Qingdao Bus Group, put forward several suggestions for the current operation of buses in our city. "The first is to widen the existing bus lanes. For example, the section of Hong Kong Middle Road (Shandong Junction - Kaohsiung Junction) and the section of Fuzhou South Road (Donghai West Junction - Jiangxi Junction) were changed to two lanes. The second is to add new bus lanes. The bus lanes on the existing main roads are all segmental and lack coherence, which restricts the smooth operation of buses. The third is to unify the standards for harbor-style bus stations, add new harbor stations, and increase the length of the existing 30-40 meters long harbor stations to 50-70 meters. The fourth is to apply a bus signal priority system at road intersections where conditions permit. The fifth is to speed up the installation and configuration of on-board capture equipment, and increase the law enforcement of illegal occupation of bus lanes and harbor stations. ”

In addition to widening the bus lanes and providing basic guarantees for the smooth flow of buses, Zhang Lu also proposed to increase the proportion of air-conditioned vehicles and adjust the operating structure of buses. He pointed out that at present, most bus lines in our city have problems such as single models and limited ride options, which cannot meet the diverse needs of different groups of passengers. For example, in the summer and winter, citizens travel by bus, air-conditioned vehicles are more comfortable, while the proportion of routes equipped with air-conditioned vehicles is only about 12%, and 56% of the air-conditioned lines are seasonally open, and the annual opening time is only 150 days, and passenger choices are more restricted. In this regard, Zhang Lu suggested that when the city updates bus vehicles, expand the application of air-conditioned vehicles, so that more air-conditioned models cover more bus lines and improve riding comfort. At the same time, drawing on the experience of Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen and other cities, air-conditioned vehicles and ordinary cars are cross-operated on bus lines with dense passenger flow, and high-quality and preferential prices are implemented for air-conditioned vehicles, so as to better meet the needs of different passengers.
