Those islands on the map (1) Comores and Mayotte

This issue talks about the L'archipel des Comores and Mayotte, which are structurally part of the same archipelago.

Between Madagascar and the African continent is the Strait of Mozambique, the world's largest strait, and the northern mouth of the strait has a group of islands, mainly consisting of 4 large islands (relatively speaking, if it is considered small islands compared to Madagascar) and some small islands. This is the Comoros Islands.

The Comoros Islands, which choke the northern mouth of Mozambique, have always been an important shipping route in the eastern part of the African continent, and even after the opening of the Suez Canal, their importance has not diminished.

In the 19th century, Africa was carved up by Europeans, and as an established empire, we heard too many stories of the French and the British falling in love and killing each other in Africa. The important islands in the Indian Ocean were basically divided between the two families. The French seized Madagascar, Reunion, comoros, etc., while the islands of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Seychelles, Mauritius, and Diego Garcia were occupied by the British.

The Comoros islands are not large, and were later divided into two parts, one is the independent Comoros, the main territory claims to own all 4 islands, and Mayotte is also counted when calculating the land area. Mayotte voted twice to stay in France, which naturally became one of France's two overseas provinces in the Indian Ocean.

Today's Comoros is still basically pristine, and the overall national income is much lower than that of Mayotte, which is occupied by the French. Although Mayotte's economic situation is much worse than that of Réunion, another overseas province in the Indian Ocean, or mainland France, per capita income is still more than 9 times that of the Comoros. As a result of this great discrepancy, the Comorians voted with their feet, tried every means to go to Mayotte, and perhaps, in the future, have the opportunity to travel to the European continent to meet the world.
