Some time ago, Migo's father was deeply touched after seeing an article "My son has cancer at the age of 10, we used two years to say goodbye".
In his view, although every family has its own helplessness, no matter what, the parents must fight for the possibility of having children.
As a parent of a child with hepatoma, he decided to share the story of Miguo so that more families can see: believe in the doctor, believe in the treatment plan, and always keep the cloud open for the child to see the bright moon.

From Linfen, Shanxi to Xi'an, Shaanxi, my daughter was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma

On January 27, 2020, the post-90s father of Linfen, Shanxi Province, ushered in the birth of his second daughter, Xiao Miguo, who was three years old away from his sister. "It feels very happy to have two little lovers, and if you have no other luxury, you want them to grow up healthy and happy."
This is an ordinary family of four living in the countryside. Dad works outside the home, Mom takes care of both children wholeheartedly, and the days are plain and happy.
However, after only two months of immersion in the joy of having a second child, Migo's father suffered a blow to fate. At first he noticed that Migo's abdomen was hard and stiff, and there was a bit of a drum. He didn't care too much, maybe the child was eating.
It wasn't until a relative came to visit and accidentally found that Miguo's belly was a little abnormal, miguo's father paid attention to it, and quickly took miguo to the hospital for examination, and the result was identified as suspected hepatoblastoma - a disease he had never heard of.
He quickly took out his mobile phone to search, and when he saw the results of the query, he was dumbfounded, and did not dare to tell the child's mother, afraid that she was worried.
When the doctor talked to him, he took Migo's mother aside. The doctor said, "This disease is quite serious, the hospital conditions are limited, can not do biopsy, can not be diagnosed." If you have the ability, you should go to a big hospital for further diagnosis and treatment. ”
"No matter how serious the illness, I have to save her", Migo's father had only this one belief in his mind. It was late afternoon after the discharge, but he did not have time to wait until the next day, and drove from Linfen to Xi'an Children's Hospital with Miguo's mother and Xiaomiguo overnight.
After more than four hours of travel, he did not feel tired at all, and when he arrived at the hospital, he took Miguo to do a series of examinations such as B ultrasound and CT without stopping.

Early the next morning, Migo was admitted to the general surgery department. Although he has not yet done a biopsy, the doctor here told him that 80 or 90% of Migo is hepatoblastoma, which makes Migo's father somewhat remorseful. Yeah, how could parents associate these symptoms of their children with cancer?
The focus of the doctor's conversation with Migo's father at Xi'an Children's Hospital was not on accountability, but on building up his confidence: if he insisted on treatment, the long-term survival rate of the child was still very high.
Listening to the doctor's words, Migo's father seemed to see a beam of light shining into the dark night sky—at least Migo was saved. Be sure to do your best to treat your child!
Next, Migo was finally diagnosed with hepatoblastoma after a pathological test.
Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignancy of the liver in children, accounting for about 90% of the total. Hepatoblastoma symptoms depend on the size of the tumor and whether it metastasizes, there are many asymptomatic in the early stages, children often see a tumor in the abdomen found by chance, other clinical manifestations include abdominal swelling, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, vomiting, etc., and most children have abnormally elevated serum alpha-fetoprotein levels.
The treatment of hepatoma is mainly surgery combined with chemotherapy, before treatment, must be comprehensive evaluation, if the child has distant metastases, chemotherapy needs to be given first.
Currently, the overall survival rate for hepatoblastoma is around 80%.

9 hours of surgery and 3 days of ICU, Migo passed the surgery and infection alone

The doctor formulated a treatment plan for Migo: chemotherapy - surgery - chemotherapy.
Migo received three courses of chemotherapy in the first stage, and due to insensitivity to drugs, the tumor shrank only 2 centimeters from a diameter of 15 centimeters at the time of diagnosis. After consultation with doctors from hematology, general surgery and other departments, it is believed that chemotherapy can no longer be continued, and surgery should be performed as soon as possible.
Miguo can be said to be one of the youngest children with tumors in the general surgery department of Xi'an Children's Hospital. The three-month-old rice fruit is impossible for neonatology and general surgery doctors to determine. After consultation, it was decided to see a general surgery department.
Although general surgeons say that the long-term survival rate of pediatric hepatoblastoma can reach 80% or 90%, but the anesthesiologist says that the child is too young, and if the general anesthesia is five or six hours, the chance of getting off the operating table is only 10%.
"Optimism and pessimism, which end of the scale should I lean toward?" Migo's father struggled internally, but finally decided to believe the doctor and think about the best result.
Migo, who has long eyelashes, has a fever during treatment
August 26, 2020, Migo Surgery Day. Enter the operating room at 5 p.m. The surgery, which was originally planned for 5-8 hours, ended up with 9 hours.
The couple fidgeted outside the operating room, did not dare to leave for a moment, afraid that the child's operation would be unexpected, the doctor came out to find them, and hoped that the doctor would come out and tell them that the child's operation was successful.
Migo's father said, "Both tangled and anxious, those 9 hours were as long as a lifetime." He was relieved not until the operating room door opened and the doctor came to them with a tumor cut from Migo's liver and told them, "The operation went well."
But the doctor also told Migo's father a bad news: because Migo's tumor involved a large area of the liver, 70% of the liver was removed, and the gallbladder could not be retained. At present, only a bile drainage tube can be installed to drain the bile outside the body, and bile-gut anastomosis is required after 3 months.
Biliary anastomosis: When the bile duct is blocked due to stone obstruction, scar stenosis, tumor and other reasons, the surgeon often directly connects the bile duct and intestines on the proximal side of the blocked site, so that the bile can flow directly into the intestine through this interface, just like after one end of the road is blocked, another stool is opened in the middle of the road, this operation is called biliary anastomosis.
After the operation, Migo had to be observed and treated in the ICU for three days before he could meet with his parents. This is the postoperative infection level that Migo has to pass alone.
Although he knew that this was a process that his child had to go through after surgery, Migo's father's inner worries did not diminish in the slightest. Fear of infection, fear of other accidents...
In short, I can't see my child, and my heart is always empty. Walk around in front of the ICU all day long, only then do you feel that your child is by your side.
What Migo Dad looks forward to most every day is that the doctor informs parents of the child's situation at a fixed time. When he heard that Migo could be transferred to general surgery, he felt that he was getting closer and closer to the dawn of victory.
As everyone knows, I didn't expect that there were more difficult levels waiting for them later.

the treatment level is difficult, and medical parents work together to break through

Since it takes a period of recuperation after the operation to undergo the next step of chemotherapy, Miguo's father took Miguo back to his hometown in Linfen. I thought that a familiar environment would be more conducive to the child's recovery, but an accident occurred.
One day more than a month after the operation, Migo went to the hospital because of fever and dehydration, and kept crying during the hospitalization, resulting in the accidental loss of the bile drainage tube.
Miguo's father was impatient, and quickly took Miguo back to the general surgery department of Xi'an Children's Hospital, and the doctor made an emergency appointment for surgery and did a bile-gut anastomosis in advance. Fortunately, the operation was timely and did not have much impact on the subsequent treatment.
When the indicators of recuperation reached the standard of chemotherapy, Migo began a six-course course of chemotherapy.
The most difficult stage of rice fruit treatment is the inhibition period after chemotherapy. Low blood image is easy to cause infection, coupled with the child's small, weak body, blood elephant rise is not so easy, almost every course of treatment after the infection of rice fruit has not escaped, fever, can not eat, have become a common thing.
Not only are children suffering, but adults are also tortured to the point of losing their temper. Migo's father can only take turns with his mother to hold her and comfort her, so that this little person can feel the love and warmth of his parents all the time when he experiences pain.
Migo's illness coincided with the outbreak, and in order to ensure the safety of hospitalized patients, the hospital originally allowed only one parent to accompany the bed. However, considering that the rice fruit is too small, the mother's energy alone can not take care of it at all, so it is specially approved that the rice fruit can be accompanied by two people, father and mother.
"The doctors and nurses here are very responsible and patient, and we are touched by the small gestures." Affected by the side effects of chemotherapy drugs, children generally have rotten mouths and rotten butts. The nurse will help the child scrape off the broken mucous membranes and let them grow new mucous membranes.
Every time in the process of scraping, the nurses couldn't help but cry, and they really hurt these children. Every time Migo's father saw this scene, he would secretly turn his head, not daring to look at it, afraid that he would cry too.

above the dark clouds, there will always be the sun shining

When it comes to his relationship with the Sunflower Child, Migo's father feels both lucky and regretful.
Fortunately, he saw the promotion of "Sunflower Children" in the doctor's office and corridors of Xi'an Children's Hospital, and after paying attention to the subscription account, he found that every article published in it benefited him a lot.
Unfortunately, every time the "Sunflower Children" team did offline activities in Xi'an Children's Hospital, it happened to be the blood picture suppression period after Miguo's chemotherapy, and he could not bring Miguo to participate.
At the same time, Miguo's father also expressed his gratitude to the medical team of Xi'an Children's Hospital: Director Shi Weidong, Director Hou Chongzhi, Dr. Cheng Tao, Dr. Zhang Sheng, Dr. Su Haixing, Dr. Zhang Xiangning, Dr. Wang Xingcheng, Director Liu Ansheng of the Department of Hematology, Dr. Xia Rui and all the nurses. Thank you to them for their careful care for ten months during Xiaomi's illness.
Nearly 10 months of treatment, on February 24, 2021, Miguo successfully concluded treatment.
Migo is now one year old and three months old, and Migo's father said that Migo was particularly well-behaved before he was sick, but now he is very lively and likes to be mischievous.
Perhaps because she kept fighting monsters at such a young age, heaven gave her a generous reward for defeating the disease - optimistic and cheerful.
No recurrence, healthy and happy growth is the biggest dream of every parent of the child after the child's treatment, and Migo's father is no exception. He also hopes that Migo can become a doctor when he grows up, bringing hope to more sick children.
Ayako Miura, the writer of "Freezing Point", once wrote: Although there are dark clouds in the sky, there will always be a sun shining above the dark clouds.
I hope that Miguo's future life will no longer be shrouded in haze and will always be full of sunshine.
Interview afterword
So far, Migo's mother only knows that her child has hepatoblastoma, and the overall survival rate is around 80 percent — the results of her own searches online.
She knows nothing about the risks her child may encounter during surgery and chemotherapy. This stems from a kind of instinct of Migo's father to protect his family, not to let the child's mother worry, and the big things must be carried by men.
From Migo's father, I saw the responsibility of a husband and a father.
