Hong Kong China Commentary Reporter:
In view of the PLA's recent exercises in the Taiwan Strait, Qiu Tai, chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan, said three days ago that "the layout of a quasi-state of war" has been reached, and he has been accused of manipulating "fear of China" and arousing doubts. Qiu Taisan, Su Zhenchang, Chen Mingtong and others later added that "no one wants war" and "if there is no emergency, there will be no war during Tsai Ing-wen's term of office." Do you have any comment on this? Thank you.
Ma Xiaoguang:
These remarks have precisely exposed the hypocritical nature of the DPP authorities in manipulating the populism of "opposing China and fearing China" and creating confrontation between the two sides of the strait, while pretending to proclaim "maintain the status quo and hope for peace." They have also further exposed their true intentions of reversing right and wrong, exaggerating the mainland's "military threat," coercing the will of the People of Taiwan, deceiving international public opinion, and constantly seeking "independence" provocations.
The DPP authorities and the "Taiwan independence" forces collude with external forces, constantly carry out "independence" provocations, and nakedly sell the "two-state theory." This is the root cause of the current tense and turbulent situation in the Taiwan Strait. The PLA training exercises are necessary actions to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are aimed at "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and interference by external forces, including trafficking in the "two-state theory," with the aim of fundamentally safeguarding the overall interests of the Chinese nation and the vital interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait. Only by curbing the provocation of "Taiwan independence" can peace in the Taiwan Strait be guaranteed and cross-strait relations return to the right track.
