Recently, when bird friends Jingyuan, Hang Dequan, Xiao Zhu and others were watching birds in the Yizheng Mountains, they found a bird with a special distinction between black and white and red - the black crane.
The full name of the black grebe is "black short-legged quail", which is usually called the black grebe. The black quail is a member of a large family of the quail family, in which yangzhou people are most familiar with the white-headed quail (white-headed plover), as well as the less familiar collared finches.
Because the black quail is mostly distributed in the south of the Yangtze River, rarely to the north of the Yangtze River. Therefore, it is a small surprise to see it in Yangzhou in jiangbei.
Hang Dequan said that as a close relative of the white-headed grebe, the black grebe is actually more qualified to be called the "white-headed horn", which also makes bird friends joke that it came to Yangzhou to compete with the white-headed grebe for the name. Of course, the black crane also has its own proprietary common name, such as the white mountain head, the red-billed white-headed blackbird, the red-billed blackbird and so on.
As a very characteristic species in the grebe family, the head and neck of the black quail are snow white, the body feathers are pure black, the mouth and feet are bright red, black and white red, this dress color is not "gorgeous", but it has always been a classic collocation.
