The smallest snow pigeon in the world

The smallest snow pigeon in the world

Scientific name: Diamond Dove

Distribution: Western Australia and semi-arid desert areas

Features: Thin snow dove body length of only 18 cm , head , forehead and thorax pale grey , abdomen and subtail coverts gray , hind neck , shoulder feathers and back light brown , wings coverts dark gray , shoulder coverts with many white spots on the shoulders and wings , caudal feathers in the center of the gray feathers the outermost white feathers. The area around the eyes is bare, orange-red, the mouth is dark olive, and the flesh of the feet is red. The gem-robed dove is the smallest dove in the world. They are small in size, with long tails with white feathers, maroon wing spots in flight, and their cries are "grunting".

Male and female identification: male birds are longer than females, stand tall, and then walk around with their heads held high, and their eye circles are thick and red in natural light in the environment. Male birds call mostly continuous undulating "grunting" sounds, and when in heat, the male birds chirp like peacocks and open the screen.

Feeding: Daily canary mixed with bird food or cereal with sustenance seeds and hemp seeds. During the breeding period, high-protein and high-fat feeds such as millet and suzi can be added. Daily health care sand can not be broken. Vegetables can be stocked with cucumbers, leafy vegetables, etc. according to the bird's preference.

Breeding: Can be raised in cockatoo cages or homemade 50X40X40 cages. Set up a shallow grass nest, and put hay nest material in the cage. Watching the male mate with the female after estrus or frequently grabbing the nest material is ready to lay eggs. Spawning is similar to pigeons, one a day or even every other day. The incubation period is about 12-14 days (the first one) depending on the season. Low temperature can be extended by 2 days. Male and female hatch together and

brood. Brooding symptoms are the same as carrier pigeons. The chicks leave the nest for about 10 days. Depending on the degree of health and development, the parent bird needs to be fed for about 22-30 days to be independent (observe the independent feeding of the chicks, such as the sum of the parent birds to feed a few days later independently. My earliest isolated independent young birds were isolated for 18 days out of the shell)

Variants: The plumage mutations I know so far are: blue (wild), silver, camel, beige, red, decor (i.e., stealthy pai), and white tail (which can be mixed and matched with the previous colors).
