For the first time in eastern Xinjiang, the long beetle of quarantine pests was intercepted

Tianjin Netnews City Express reporter Chang Jian correspondent Bai Yunfei immediately learned from the Tianjin Eastern Xinjiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that in the process of carrying out quarantine on a batch of imported acacia logs, the bureau intercepted a plant quarantine pest -- the medium pair of long beetles, which was the first time that this quarantine pest was intercepted at the Eastern Xinjiang Port.

The batch of acacia logs came from Malaysia, totaling more than 68 cubic meters, weighing about 69 tons and worth more than 4,000 US dollars. In the process of on-site quarantine of the goods, the inspection and quarantine personnel found 6 live insects, which were later identified by the Animal and Plant Food Center of Tianjin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and these live insects were medium to small beetle and large-headed ant. Among them, the medium-sized long beetle is a quarantine pest that is explicitly prohibited from entering China in the "Directory of Quarantine Pests Entering China", and there is currently no distribution record in China. At present, in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, the batch of logs has been fumigated in whole boxes.

The adult body of the medium pair of small beetles is about 4 mm long and nearly 1 mm wide, cylindrical, russet-brown, and belongs to the genus Of the coleoptera long beetle family, which is widely distributed in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Americas and other regions. The host plants mainly include more than 30 genera such as Acacia, Toon, Citrus, Park, Thornberry, Phoenix, Rubber, Pine, etc., with a wide range of hosts. Medium-to-long beetles are forest tree drilling moth pests, and the borer tunnels are drilled in the wood xylem to form a moth hollow, which harms the wood xylem of the tree and reduces the use value of wood. Once the epidemic is introduced, it will endanger the safety of forestry production and cause serious economic losses.

Imported logs are high-incidence goods of the epidemic, recently, the east Xinjiang port has intercepted a variety of harmful organisms such as tianniu family, weed fly, American cockroach, salamander and other harmful organisms from the inbound sassafras pine logs, beanwood logs, and rain wood logs, in view of this situation, the Eastern Xinjiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau will continue to increase inspection efforts, strictly quarantine the entry of harmful organisms, strictly prevent the introduction of harmful organisms, and maintain the biosecurity of the national gate.
