Zhejiang Natural History Museum

Zhejiang Museum of Natural History (Zhejiang Museum of Natural History) was founded in 1929, formerly known as the West Lake Museum of Zhejiang Province. The building area is about 26,000 square meters, and the collection totals 130,000 items.

In 1929, after the first West Lake Exposition was held, the West Lake Museum of Zhejiang Province was established on the basis of the "eight halls and two places" of the expo.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the West Lake Museum went through several rounds, and later renamed "Zhejiang Museum" in 1953. In July 1984, the natural part of the museum was set up separately, and the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History was also established.
