This morning, bird friends learned that a nest of four chicks in Nanyang Lake, Qingzhou, Shandong Province, had all died tragically in their nests. According to bird friends, there is a strong smell of pesticides in the nest, and it is very likely that they were poisoned and killed by vicious people.
It is reported that Bird Friends has reported to the forest public security department, and the police are also carrying out investigations. If it is really deliberate, it is hoped that they will be brought to justice as soon as possible.
The White-browed Grebe is a small bird with a body length of 11–14 cm. The male has a largely black upper body and white eyebrow lines, which are very prominent on the black head. The waist is bright yellow , the wings and tail are black , and the wings are covered with white spots. The underparts are bright yellow. The female has a large olive green upper body. The waist is bright yellow , and there are white spots on the wings. The underparts are pale yellowish-green. Its natural habitats are broad-leaved and mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests in low hills and foothills below 1200 m above sea level. It is often active alone or in pairs, mostly in the lower branches of the canopy and foraging, and often flies into the air to prey on flying insects. The main food is coleopterae insects such as tianniu family, adults of the genus Tianniu, kowtows, ladybirds, weevils, goldenrods and other coleoptera insects.
The White-browed Eagle has been included in the List of Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000.
