The flower-faced duck is a small duck, a traveling bird, which is rare in Beijing. The Waterfowl Lake of Beijing Zoo once had three flower-faced ducks. Beihai, Taoran Pavilion, Chaoyang Park and other places have all appeared with flower-faced ducks.
This winter, a flower-faced duck came to Yuyuantan and stayed in the East Lake for many days. Recently, I heard that the flower-faced duck has left, and I don't know if it is true or not.
The appearance of the flower-faced duck is very peculiar, especially the feathers on the face are composed of yellow, green, black and white colors, with clear colors and strong contrasts, as if they were painted with bright oil paint, leaving a deep impression. This flower-faced duck is mixed with a large flock of Mandarin ducks and mallard ducks, looking very lonely. The Mandarin ducks in Yuyuantan are very active, and they are in groups, either playing and making trouble, or Qingqing and me. On the other hand, the flower-faced duck, alone, although mixed with other populations, behaves independently, splashing, foraging, resting, going its own way, not affected by the noise around it.
I suddenly felt some sympathy for this little duckling. In previous years, the flower-faced ducks found were mostly males and females, in pairs. The zoo's flower-faced ducks are even males and females. However, this time, there was only one small male bird in Yuyuantan, and there was not even a companion! Therefore, for the departure of this little duck, I am not only not sorry, but somewhat happy, probably looking for its other half. Good luck with it!
