The State Forestry and Grassland Administration issued an emergency notice saying that the desert locust has spread from East Africa to India and Pakistan in recent days, and china is also at risk of desert locust invasion. According to experts, if the climatic conditions are suitable, there is a risk that the desert locusts that occurred this time will directly invade Tibet from Pakistan and India, or invade Yunnan through Myanmar, or invade Xinjiang through Kazakhstan. At present, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration has set up a grassland locust prevention and control command center and a locust prevention and control expert group, and will pay close attention to studying and formulating a national grassland locust prevention and control emergency plan.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) issued a warning of desert locust disasters to the world on February 11. According to the emergency notice issued this time, the desert locust has spread from East Africa to India and Pakistan in recent days, and China is also facing the risk of desert locust invasion. Doing a good job in the prevention and control of grassland locusts is related to the production and life of farmers and herdsmen, the ecological security of grasslands, and national food security.

It is reported that locusts are widely distributed in China's grassland areas, and the average annual grassland locust infestation in China is 150 million mu, and the highest year reaches 300 million mu. The desert locust plague that began in Africa has attracted widespread attention from the international community because of its wide range, heavy damage losses and rapid development of trends. Experts believe that although the risk of desert locusts invading China is low, once they invade, they will face many uncertainties such as unknown occurrence rules, lack of monitoring technology, and difficulties in prevention and control. The competent departments of forestry and grassland at all levels must firmly establish a sense of bottom-line thinking, and must not have any ideological paralysis or take it lightly.

According to FAO, the desert locust plague that began in Africa may continue until June 2020 due to poor initial control, when the size of the locust swarm may increase to 500 times the current size. China's Yunnan, Tibet, Xinjiang and other provinces and regions bordering India, Pakistan, and Myanmar should pay close attention to and closely monitor the changes and dynamics of desert locusts, arrange monitoring points on possible migration routes, and earnestly do a good job in monitoring desert locusts in border areas.

It has been learned that the State Forestry and Grassland Administration has set up a grassland locust prevention and control command center and a corresponding locust prevention and control expert group, and is stepping up efforts to study and formulate a national grassland locust prevention and control emergency plan, and plans to convene a national grassland locust trend meeting in March to analyze and judge the risk of grassland locust plague and make timely arrangements for grassland locust prevention and control.
