Route of infection
All breeds of chickens are susceptible, the incidence and mortality rate of chickens aged 15 to 50 days are high, and adult chickens have a certain resistance to coccidiosis. Sick chickens are the main source of infection, and all feed, drinking water, soil and utensils contaminated by insect-carrying chickens have egg sacs. Chickens are infected with coccidiosis mainly by eating infectious oocysts.
Clinical symptoms
Sick chicken spirit depression, fluffy feathers, head curl, loss of appetite, full of liquid in the sac, crown and visible mucosa anemia, pale, gradually emaciated, sick chicken often row red, carrot-like, rotten meat-like feces, if infected with tender Amy's coccidiosis, at the beginning the feces are brown, and later become complete blood feces, if not taken in time, the fatality rate can reach more than 50%. If multiple coccidiosis are mixed with infection, the stool carries blood and contains a large amount of shedding intestinal mucosa.
Autopsy symptoms
Amy's earworm mainly affects the cecum, the two cecal colons are significantly enlarged, can be 3 to 5 times normal, the intestinal lumen is filled with coagulated or fresh dark red blood, the cecum epithelium is thickened, there is serious erosion. Poisoning Amy's coccidiosis damages the middle of the small intestine, causing the intestinal wall to dilate, thicken, and severe necrosis. At the site of the schizoite reproduction, there are obvious pale white spots, and there are many small bleeding spots on the mucous membrane. There is coagulated blood in the intestinal tubes or jelly-like contents of carrot-like, rotten flesh.
Precautions
Strengthen feeding management, adult chickens and chicks are fed separately, so as to avoid the spread of pathogens in adult chickens with insects, resulting in outbreaks of coccidiosis in chicks.
