The English Longhair is a relative of the English Shorthair cat, known as the Lowland Cat in the United States and Great Britain in Europe, and they all have a robust body, a wide and round head, round cheeks, a consistent coat color, and a sweet expression. The ancestors of the English long-haired cat have remarkable military achievements, as early as two thousand years ago in the ancient Roman Empire, they had followed Julius Caesar in the conquest, with super ability to catch rats, protect the food and grass of the Roman army, and ensure the stability of military supplies. It was later brought to England and became the indigenous cat of The United Kingdom.
At the end of the 19th century, British breeders selected the most beautiful cats among these indigenous cats and began a long breeding process, and finally this breed known as the English longhair cat was born. In 1871, the English longhair cat participated in the Crystal Palace Exposition in London and has been named ever since. In 1901, the English Cat Club was founded, when the English longhair cat was still a large and sturdy blue coat, much like the French Carthusian cat, and later because their offspring became more and more similar, even indistinguishable from each other.
